JD CYMRU NORTH REPORTS AND TABLE – DECEMBER 26

Ruthin Town 3 (Morris 35, 72, Giblin 76)
Denbigh Town 1 (Cooke 5)

After beginning his tenure as Ruthin manager with three straight defeats, Colin Caton could not have chosen a better game to turn the tide.
It promised to be a major test for the blues at home to Vale of Clwyd rivals Denbigh on Boxing Day, but a double from long-standing Ruthin hero Llyr Morris helped the hosts halt a run of five losses in succession.
Friday brought the 30th Cymru North meeting between these two great clubs and Ruthin’s success edged them 12-9 in front on wins, with nine draws also on the record. Ruthin are now unbeaten in their last five tussles with the Central Park outfit.
Yet it was the visitors who made the better start in this latest episode. In just the fifth minute, a Dan Flanders cross was flicked on by Ben Lockley and Max Cooke headed in at the back post.
Ruthin levelled on 35 when a deflection in the box and some slack away defending allowed Morris to make it 1-1.
Sub Matthew Worrall threatened for the visitors just before half time when he danced into the box, but Daniel Goldston saved well from close range.

Denbigh should have retaken the lead just before the hour when Bobby Beaumont blazed over from a great position.
However, it was Ruthin who struck next, a break down the left leading to Joel Giblin setting up Morris for his second.
Four minutes later the roles were reversed, Morris with the assist, Giblin the finish – 3-1 to Ruthin.
Denbigh fought hard to get back into it, but a magnificent Goldston tip over to deny Cooke ensured there was no further scoring.

Flint Mountain 0 Holywell Town 3

Craig Lindfield (stripes) on the attack for Holywell

After a highly unusual barren run of five games without a victory, Holywell made a welcome return to winning ways at Bastion Gardens.
Deadly duo Jamie Breese and Craig Lindfield provided the Wellmen’s goals – all within the opening quarter-hour.
Lindfield struck first with his 14th goal of the season after just three minutes, strike partner Breese with the assist.
Breese then found the net on 9 and 14, another double putting him on 19 goals in all competitions for 2025-26.

Newtown 0 Airbus UK Broughton 3

Oliver Lanceley was a Boxing Day hat-trick hero for the Wingmakers.
It was a great first win in four matches for Airbus at the expense of a Newtown side which bagged a 2-2 draw in the reverse clash at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium early in the campaign.
Lanceley delivered a first-half double for Mark Allen’s side, netting on 31 and 45+1 minutes, Jordan Evans and George Peers with the assists.
And Lanceley, who had scored just once previously this term, completed his treble on the hour.
Newtown had Jolyon Harries sent off in the 86th minute for a second yellow card offence.

Holyhead Hotspur 3 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1

Two-goal hero Cory Williams (photo taken before a different game)

Cory Williams kept up his impressive scoring record against Rhyl 1879 in recent seasons with a crucial double in Friday’s triumph at the New Stadium.
Unbeaten in their last five matches heading into Boxing Day, the Lilywhites led 1-0 at half time courtesy of a Lewis Hodson 16th minute effort.
It remained 1-0 until the 68th minute, Connor Owen notching his ninth goal of the season, Craig Whelan with the assist.
The stage was now set for Williams to do his stuff. Three minutes after the equaliser, Owen set up the striker to make it 2-1.
And Williams found the net again after 76, Ifan Emlyn Jones the chance supplier this time.
That ensured Holyhead made it four wins in their last five games.

Llandudno 5 Buckley Town 0

Five different scorers featured as leaders Llandudno maintained their seven-point lead at the summit with a ruthless beating of 10-man Buckley.
Still unbeaten in the league after 16 matches, Aidan Higgins’ fourth-minute breakthrough was the Seasiders’ only goal of the first half.
Buckley’s hopes of a recovery took a nosedive early in the second half when they had Edward Brown red-carded.
Goals followed regularly from the 67th minute when Kieran Smith made it 2-0.
Harvey Bennett netted on 85, Joseph Carey after 90+1 and Mark Cadwallader with 90+3 on the clock.
Buckley remain in the top six, but this was not a day they will remember with affection.

Mold Alexandra 0 Caersws 2

A bad day for Mold as their winless run extended to five games – including four defeats.
Caersws took the honours at the MKH Stadium, Alyn Park, goals from Dillon Browne (25 mins) and an OG from Morgan Roberts on 52 making it three wins in four league outings for the improving Powys team.
