CPDM Henllan 3 (Fitzgerald 7, Cattell 73 & 74)
Trearddur Bay 2 (Williams 88, Woods 90+1)

Henllan survived a late fightback from a spirited Trearddur Bay to collect maximum points at Ysgol Glan Clwyd.

The hosts made a quick start and took the lead on 7 minutes when Mabli Fitzgerald found the net from a Sophie Evans assist.

The Vale of Clwyd villagers thought they had doubled the lead on 24 when a Lleucu Williams corner hit the post and seemed to cross the line before ex Amlwch keeper Ceri Prichard gathered the ball but the referee waved play on.

The rest of the first half fizzled out without either goalie making a save of note.

On the hour Henllan were forced into a substitution when keeper Rhian Edwards had to go off with an injury, Ella Simcox taking over the gloves,

In the 73rd minute Henllan scored a crucial second goal when a Fitzgerald through pass put Abby Cattell in the clear and she carried the ball into the penalty box before slotting home with her left foot into the corner.

A minute later the university student got her second goal in as many minutes when a Magi Pierce pass sent Evans in and her effort was saved by Pritchard’s leg. As the ball looped up second half sub Cattell coolly side-footed into the empty net,

Henllan looked assured of getting the points being 3 0 up with 88 minutes on the clock, but Trearddur Bay had other ideas as Saffron Williams scored from close range from a corner.

Then a minute into injury time Jessica Woods made it 3 2 from a free kick.

Henllan were relieved to hear the final whistle two minutes later.

Lia Evans and Sophie Evans were excellent for Henllan whilst captain Freya Davies was the star player for the islanders.
