FEATURE: Has anyone in Welsh football ever scored a better two goals in one game than Tom Creamer’s midweek pair for Bangor?

To score one world-class goal in a game is very commendable – but two?

And how often has a player netted a pair of wonder strikes two minutes apart? Surely that’s as rare as a snowman in the desert.

However, if any of us were asked to choose a current North Wales footballer capable of creating two goal of the season contenders in such a short space of time, many would undoubtedly say Tom Creamer.

After all, the attacking midfielder has earned his very own buzz phrase from the S4C Sgorio team – the Screamer from Creamer.

It first came to light in August 2023 when Creamer scored a wonder volley from near halfway for Colwyn Bay at Barry Town.

Fittingly, it was the Bay’s first-ever Cymru Premier goal and it earned the scorer the Sgorio Gol y Mis award.

Onto October 21, 2025, and CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 were 2-1 up in the 82nd minute of their Ardal North West top-of-the-table crunch clash against Porthmadog.

Enter Creamer to let fly from around 25 yards a missile that rocketed into the top corner – the home fans went absolutely wild!

Those supporters would still have been pinching themselves at what they had just witnessed when something even more spectacular came along from the same player.

In the 84th minute, Creamer turned smartly on halfway and from a good 40-45 yards and wider towards the left, he hit an instinctive strike which arrowed and swerved its way into the net, leaving the keeper grasping thin air once more.

This was the Dreamer of All Screamers from Creamer. A goal most of us would have struggled to invent in our own imagination, never mind score, No fluke, just purely and simply going for it.

Not only did those two goals earn him an eternal place in the hearts and heads of those lucky enough to see them, they also clinched a massive three points for the Citizens.

If you haven’t seen these goals, do yourself a favour and click on to the CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 Facebook page and watch Goals from The Gantry.

Tom Creamer…..take a bow, twice!

SOME OTHER NORTH WALES PLAYERS RENOWNED FOR SPECTACULAR GOALS

Lee Trundle

Picture: FAW

Before going on to find fame with Swansea City and Wrexham, Trundle played 18 games for Rhyl FC in the 2000-01 season, scoring 15 goals.
Some of those Lilywhites goals were phenomenal and set the tone for a career full of the most amazing net-busters imaginable.

Lee McArdle

Ask Bangor City Stadium director Lee Dixon (no, this feature is not just about people called Lee – purely coincidental) about Mr McArdle.
This man could score from anywhere, like he had a built-in radar aligning to the goalposts.
One of the stars of Caernarfon Town’s 2012-13 treble-winning side under Dixon, McArdle concocted ssome unbelievable goals.

Marc Limbert

Scored my all-time favourite goal from a North Wales team in 2003-04 when representing Rhyl FC he sent a sublime effort from close to halfway over the Aberystwyth Town keeper – via his wrong left foot!
Born to entertain with his trickery and shooting ability, a legend for both Bangor City and the Lilywhites.

Jay Gibbs

A complete all-round midfielder whose goals are often talked about long after they have been scored.

Netted a magnificent long-range effort for Holyhead Hotspur in the 2011-12 FAW Trophy Final and came up with endless crackers for Caernarfon Town, one particularly memorable one flying in from halfway.

Katie Louise Bowe

Left foot like a magic wand, can score from any distance.
At her very best in 2015-16, when she scored a Welsh Cup Final stunner which made her the first woman ever to be nominated for Sgorio’s Gol y Mis/Goal of the Month.
Either from a free-kick or corner, she is lethal.

Mike James

Going back a few years, but this Denbigh Town great has to merit a mention.
Scored countless long range goals via free kicks or moving balls – no difference, when Mikey caught it right, no goalkeeper had a chance.
At his peak in the 1980s and 1990s, easily a candidate for DTFC’s best ever player debate.

Danny Hughes

Has spent the majority of his career at Llandudno, where he was one of the stars of their debut 2015-16 season in the Welsh Premier, making a name for himself with some marvellous goals.
However, perhaps his finest net-finder came in Rhyl FC colours.
In 2013-14, Rhyl were playing Airbus, it was 0-0 and there were less than five minutes to go at Belle Vue. Midfielder Hughes then latched onto a loose ball around 25 yards out and hit an absolute screamer into the net.

Rob Hughes

Whether it’s a long range sizzler or a clinical finish at the end of a dazzling run, Rob Hughes has always been able to produce the spectacular.
In spells with Rhyl, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Flint Town United, Flint Mountain and current club Prestatyn Town, Hughes has scored some absolute classics.
In 2014.15, playing for Rhyl against Carmarthen Town, Hughes controlled a high ball deep inside his own half, turned and left four defenders standing, advanced to the edge of the penalty area and applied the coolest of finishes past keeper Lee Idzi.

Darren Thomas

The Cofi Messi has contributed endless remarkable goals to Caernarfon Town’s collection, his skills and shooting ability serving him so well.
Probably the best came in 2014-15 against The New Saints in the Welsh Cup – an individual gem involving a sharp turn, a mazy rum and a cracking finish which wrote him into Canaries and Welsh football folklore.
