Tuesday night brings a huge clash between two true heavyweights competing in Welsh Tier 3 football.
The battle of the unbeatens will take place at Bangor City Stadium when CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 host Porthmadog in a crunch Ardal North West encounter.
Both sides are undefeated in seven league matches, but Port have the slightly better record of seven straight wins, while the Citizens have won six and drawn one.
A home win on Tuesday will see Bangor hit the summit, any other outcome and Port will remain in pole position.
Due to cup commitments, City have not played a league game since September 12. They have not lost a single match in any competition yet this season – 14 wins and a draw with 72 goals scored.
Port have won 11 out of 13, their only losses coming against Nefyn United of Tier 4 in the FAW Amateur Trophy and Trearddur Bay in the Lock Stock Ardal Northern Cup.
Chris Jones’ side have beaten two Tier 2 Cymru North teams on penalties – Denbigh Town and Buckley Town – on their way to the Welsh Cup last 32.

Craig Papirnyk’s reign as Porthmadog manager ended on a sad note as Bangor ran out convincing 4-0 victors at Y Traeth on Boxing Day 2023.
Overall, it was a fairly even contest, but the visitors showed superior finishing, while Port displayed far too much Christmas spirit in defence and were denied by the brilliance of the Scrooge of the day, 1876 keeper Carl Jones, who made some fantastic saves.

New year, new manager, new hope for Porthmadog but the final outcome was very similar to Boxing Day.
Steve Williams had taken over from Papirnyk for what was to be a short, four-month reign, His first test at Nantporth could hardly have offered a tougher challenge.
Port did well in the first half, going in at 1-1 with Rhys Alun equalising after Corrig McGonigle struck first on eight minutes.
Three goals in a five minute spell after the restart turned the game, Sam Jones, Tom Clarke and McGonigle’s second sealing the points.
- Bangor 1876 were formed as recently as 2019-20. Porthmadog did play Bangor in that season but faced the original Bangor City, losing both Cymru North clashes 1-0, home and away.
Tuesday night’s clash has the potential to attract a huge crowd given the vast support both clubs enjoy. It could easily outstrip what most Cymru Premier clubs can get through the turnstiles.
