Three late goals from the home side clinched them an emphatic victory in front of a massive Tier 3 crowd of 1,002 at the Bangor City Stadium.

The result put Bangor top of Ardal North West and extended their unbeaten run so far to 16 matches – 15 wins and a draw.

Bangor made a dream start when the in-form James Barry fired them ahead in the very first minute. Port failed to clear from the opening attack of the game and Barry netted from outside the box.

The hosts kept up the early pressure but steadily Port settled and began to launch some good attacks of their own.

And the visitors were back on terms in the 27th minute when ex-Bangor City player Shaun Cavanagh scored from a free kick.

Back came 1876, Jamie Reed forcing keeper Josh Cooke into a superb save from his headed effort.

Soon after Dylan Summers-Jones sent in a cross and Josh Carey struck the post with a fierce connection.

Summers-Jones then hit another attempt narrowly wide as Bangor upped the pressure.

Finally, Michael Johnston’s side grabbed a deserved lead in the 38th minute when Cai Powell-Roberts crossed to the near post and Reed was there to drill into the top corner.

Brookwell was not far away with a couple of early second-half strikes, but Bangor remained sharp on the attack, Summers-Jones causing lots of headaches for the Port backline with his pace.

Port rallied, Brookwell finding himself clean through and forcing Carl Jones into a brilliant 58th minute save.

City threatened next, Powell-Roberts not missing by much before a Jack Smith volley went close.

At the other end, Cai Owen produced a magnificent tackle as Port looked set to equalise.

In the 77th minute Port sub Jonny Bravo rounded the keeper but could not quite find a team-mate with his cross.

At this stage it still could have gone etither way, but just as the visitors looked to be getting on top, Bangor made it 3-1, Tommy Creamer scoring an absolute cracker from distance.

And only a couple of minutes later, another ‘screamer from Creamer’ clinched the match. This one had to be seen to be believed – and even then you might not have believed it. An astonishing long ranger from the gods.

There was still time for another for the Citizens, sub Smith making it 5-1 in the eighth minute of added time with a stunning daisy-cutter from beyond 20 yards. The final scoreline was a bit rough on Port, but the hosts were worthy winners. And those goals! ……..
