Today saw some huge upsets in the Bute Energy Women’s Welsh Cup as THREE Tier 3 sides knocked out Genero Adran North opponents.

Llangefni Town won 1-0 at last season’s Tier 2 runners-up Llanfair United, Wrexham Foresters defeated CPDM Y Felinheli 4-2, Kirstie Kural with a hat-trick for the underdogs, and Llanystumdwy won on penalties at Berriew.

Elsewhere, Flint Town United came back from 2-1 down at half time to defeat Kinmel Bay 4-2, Llandudno recovered from going a goal behind to edge out Connah’s Quay Nomads 2-1 and NFA were convincing 5-1 victors at Denbigh Town.

CPDM Bangor’s home tie with Llanidloes Town was cancelled as the Powys visitors could not raise a team.

Wrexham Foresters 4 CPDM Y Felinheli 2

Kirstie Kural

Kirstie Kural was a hat-trick hero as Wrexham Foresters gave the biggest indication yet that they are a potential future force in the women’s game.
The Central Wales North Women’s League underdogs twice hit back from falling behind to knock out Felinheli of the Genero Adran North at Brymbo SSC.
While the Foresters have hit double figures in each of their league wins against modest opposition to date, Felinheli offered an altogether tougher challenge, but inspired by Connah’s Quay Nomads record scorer Kural, they achieved a notable giant-killing.
Felin took a fourth-minute lead through Anna Jones from a Llio Henshaw assist, but Laura Evans set up Kural to make it 1-1 with six on the clock.
Jenna Tugwell-Allsup restored the away advantage on 16, Rubie Davies assisting, but not long before the break Kural struck again with her 21st goal in just five games.
All to play for in the second half but it was not until the closing minutes that the tie was settled.
In the 85th minute Kural turned provider in teeing up Savannah Miller to make it 3-2 for the hosts.
And on a day where she shone brightest, it was fitting that Kural clinched the honours in added time with her hat-trick goal.

Llanfair United 0 Llangefni Town 1

She’s done it again – the amazing Amber Brown

Amber Brown, the girl who cannot stop scoring, notched the 61st minute winner which clinched Llangefni one of the finest wins in their short history.
The 18-year-old wonder made it nine goals in five games as the Tier 3 outsiders came away 1-0 winners at last season’s Genero Adran North second-placed side Llanfair.
Cefni, who had lost narrowly 2-1 to Llanfair in the Genero Adran Trophy last month, exacted perfect revenge at Mount Field.
Having beaten Tier 2 opposition seven days earlier in outscoring Flint Town United 4-1 in a Trophy group clash, the Anglesey side proved again they are an Adran North side in the making with a magnificent result in Powys.
The only goal came just past the hour when Ellie Coulson provided the assist and Brown applied the finish.
Llanfair were unable to equalise and to complete their misery they had Millie Evans dismissed for a second yellow in added time.

Berriew 1 Llanystumdwy 1 (Llanystumdwy won 8-7 on penalties)

Drama in Powys as minnows Llanystumdwy claimed a famous win on spot-kicks at Tier 2 Berriew.
The North Wales Coast Women’s League travellers took a shock 61st minute lead through 17-year-old Annest Roberts and the Rhiewsiders needed a 70th minute penalty from Samantha Jones to force a pens showdown.
And it was the away side who came out on top in a nerve-tingling contest 8-7.

Denbigh Town 1 NFA 5

NFA took advantage of opponents Denbigh having to operate with 10 players for well over an hour by romping to a 5-1 success at Central Park.
Town had Erin Dunkerley red-carded on 32 minutes and things went from bad to worse for the hosts when Lauren Jones edged the visitors in front with 35 on the clock and a Vanessa Hodgeson own goal made it 2-0 at half time.
Sade Benjamin added a third after 69 and further late strikes by subs Jazmine Mollatt and Mia Wall put the visitors out of sight before Ceri Purvis grabbed a home consolation three minutes into added time.

Llandudno 2 Connah’s Quay Nomads 1

Llandudno repeated last season’s Welsh Cup victory over Nomads as they knocked the Adran North champions out of the competition at Go Goodwins Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Tudno had already beaten the Quay at home in the Genero Adran Trophy this term and did it again, coming from a goal down to win the day.
Nomads took a 29th minute lead through a cracking Hannah Slack strike and it stayed 1-0 until 56 had gone when Maddie Williams equalised.
Jasmin Dutton completed the turnaround with Llandudno’s second in the 82nd minute and 2-1 is how it finished.

Flint Town United 4 Kinmel Bay 2

In a game of countless chances for both sides, six goals were scored and a penalty missed.
Rosie Hughes edged Flint in front in the first minute, but a Seren Williams wonder strike from around 40 yards and a Lexi Walsh goal handed Tier 3 underdogs Kinmel Bay a half-time lead.
Three goals in a strong start to the second half by Adran North hosts Flint won them the tie.
Rosie Hughes notched her second, Beth Roberts finished well in a one-on-one with the keeper and Shona Roberts lashed home in the 61st minute.
Seren Williams had a chance to reduce the deficit but smashed her penalty against the bar.
Georgia Williams and Walsh also hit the woodwork for the visitors, who dominated the later stages, but were unable to take their chances.
An in-depth report on this match will appear on Grassroots North Wales soon.
