North Wales women’s football reports – October 5: Wins for Wrexham, Felinheli, Flint, Llangefni and champs Nomads

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S FOOTBALL REPORTS – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5
ADRAN PREMIER
Swansea City 1 Wrexham 3

Magnificent Wrexham made it four wins in five starts this season as they downed the Swans on their own territory.
Jenny Sugarman’s second-place side were good value for their 3-1 win at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Ava Suckley and Katie Barker both netted in the opening quarter-hour before Stacey John-Davis replied for the hosts on 24 minutes.
Lili Jones notched Wrexham’s final goal just before the hour to ensure all three points returned home to North Wales.
The victory leaves the Red Dragons behind leaders Cardiff City on goal difference, with the two sides level on 12 points from five matches.
This sets everything up nicely for a meeting between the top two at Buckley Town FC next Sunday, October 12.
It took just seven minutes of Sunday’s battle in South Wales for Suckley to break the deadlock in spectacular fashion.
The 21-year-old unleashed a right-foot strike which flew in beyond keeper Amelia Forkings from 35-yards-out.
Five minutes later, Lili Jones’ fine through pass split through the defence into the path of Barker, who finished with great composure.
John-Davis halved the deficit with a fine individual effort..
Lili Jones forced a smart save from Forkings and Barker was unlucky not to earn a penalty after 39 minutes.
After the break, Abbie Iddenden hit a thunderous strike from 25-yards which crashed against the crossbar, but within seconds, Suckley slid Lili Jones through on goal and from a tight angle in the box, the midfield dynamo slotted low into the corner
Wrexham: Liz Craven, Phoebe Davies, Jodie Bartle (C), Erin Lovett, Hannah Snape, Carra Jones, Lili Jones, Josie Smith, Ava Suckley (Rosie Hughes 80), Katie Barker, Abbie Iddenden (Mariam Mahmood 69). Subs not used: Ankers, Nash, Allen, Burke, Adams.
GENERO ADRAN NORTH
Berriew 2 Flint Town United 3

Jennifer Haynes’ 92nd minute winner put Flint top of the Adran North.
Promoted Berriew scored the only goal of the first half when Dottie Evans netted on 21 minutes.
The Silkwomen upped their game after the break and were level in the 49th minute through Zoe Stopford.
On 59 minutes the visitors took the lead when Stopford struck again, Rosie Hughes with the assist.
Berriew levelled on 78 when Evans bagged her second, but the stage was set for Haynes‘ decider two minutes past the 90, Taylia Chaloner with the assist. Chaloner fed the ball low from the right to Haynes, who from some distance out hit a precise dipping effort in over the keeper – scenes!
Llandudno 1 CPDM Y Felinheli 2
Two first-half goals were enough to clinch a superb result on the road for Felinheli.
Unlucky to lose their opening game 3-2 at home to Llanfair United, the Cae Seilo side more than made up for it with a maximum points reward at Go Goodwins Stadium.
Ellie Jones struck first for the travellers, applying a seventh-minute finish from a Llywela Edwards assist.
Alaw Huws doubled the Felin score after 24, Jenna Allsup this time the supplier.
There were no further goals until sub Seren Kerfoot-Robson nabbed a consolation for Tudno in the 91st minute.
Llanfair United 2 Connah’s Quay Nomads 5

Champions Nomads led 2-0, were pegged back to 2-2, but showed the stamina of title winners to press on and begin the defence of their crown with a victory at Mount Field.
Ella Jones handed the visitors a second-minute lead, Phoebe Ellis assisting before Hannah Slack made it two on 14.
Llanfair hit back through Tania Wylde just before half time, then made it all-square through Sophie Cook after 54.
Last season’s top-scorer and Adran North Player and Young Player of the Year Polly Wild-McGregor put Nomads back in front in the 62nd minute, Ella Jones assisting.
Aimee Redfern, restored to the outfield after starting the season as a stand-in goalkeeper, made it 4-2 on 78 and Megan Galeandro added a fifth in added time.

Kinmel Bay P CPD Merched henllan P
Llangefni Town 1 NFA 0

Amber Brown was the toast of Llangefni after her 90th minute strike decided a cracking contest against long-distance travellers NFA.
Cefni clinched a first-ever win over the Rhyl side when Brown made it seven goals in three games with a superb angled finish, beating keeper Courtney Ingram at her near post.
It was rough justice on Ingram, who had a brilliant game between the sticks, while Cassandra Thomas was tremendous at the back for the visitors.
Llangefni’s forwards, Brown, Ellie Coulson and Lowri Thomas, were outstanding, while youngster Milly Lowe made a big difference when she came on in the 63rd minute.
A tremendous advert for women’s football between two teams expected to rank high up the table this season.
CPD Pwllheli 1 Caernarfon Town 1
Pwllheli had won their last six meetings with Caernarfon and scored a massive 42 goals in the process, but it was a different story at The Rec on Sunday.
A much improved Cofis team picked up a deserved point at the back-to-back Tier 3 champions, whose unsteady start to the season continued.
A few quality new signings and the return of some injured players are certainly making an impact for the Canaries, who took an 11th minute lead when Jordan Roberts provided the assist for Lisa Jones to score.
Pwllheli equalised in the 67th minute when the ever-reliable Sian Moore found the net, Hayley Rees-Jones playing the role of assister.
There was to be no winning goal and at the final whistle Town could celebrate a point well-earned.
