Both these unbeaten sides dropped their first points of the season in a great battle at Cae’r Delyn.
Arwel Huws edged Nefyn in front on 62 minutes before Shay Murphy levelled for the visitors after 80.
Hotspur manager Scott Hakesley takes us through the game.
“Today we took the long trip to Nefyn. Thanks to South Stack Lighthouse & Visitor Centre for the use of their minibus.
“As the game got going it was clear to see it was going to be close, with Nefyn battling well and very direct in their play which we seemed to deal with nicely.
“Several chances on another day go in but for the efforts of Nefyn’s keeper Gruffudd Roberts, who made some fantastic saves to take us in 0-0 at the break.
“Second half similar to the first with a direct ball from Nefyn and Arwel Huws collected and connected well to score.
“As a result we made a change in formation to get the extra attacking player on. This seemed to drive us on with wave after wave of pressure for Nefyn’s keeper who once again stopped us from enjoying ourselves. It was going to take something special to beat him and it came from Shay Murphy who from 35 yards blasted into the top right corner to make it 1-1.
“With 15 minutes left we were on the front foot with several shouts for a penalty waved off. On another day the ref may have thought differently but that’s football. Before today’s game the staff spoke and we all agreed we’d take a point and that’s what we got.
“It’s still so early with players building relationships and us finding out who suits us for all different scenarios. Today I felt we learned a lot and now look to go again next week. Today’s MOTM went to Huw Morris, who was fantastic in all aspects of his play and brought energy to our midfield. MoM for Nefyn was keeper Roberts for an outstanding display in net.
