Penalty shootouts were everywhere on Saturday – and Gwalchmai were among teams celebrating after winning theirs at Maes Meurig.
Their NWCFA Intermediate Cup tie against Cerrigydrudion ended 3-3, but the Anglesey hosts edged the spot-kicks battle 4-3.
In the game itself, Alan Owen and Jac Mlynarczyk struck for Gwalchmai in the first half, Delwyn Jones responding.

So it was pens, and while Gwalch missed first, saves from Kenny Hughes to deny Llion Thomas and Delwyn Jones sent Craig Evans’ side through.
Mochdre produced a fine performance to send Kinmel Bay tumbling to their first non-penalties defeat in 33 matches.
Since October last year, Bay had only been beaten once – on spot-kicks by Penmaenmawr Phoenix in the 2024-25 Cookson Cup final.
In the past 11 months, apart from that loss the Morfa club had recorded 26 wins and five draws and been victorious in all seven matches played this season.
However, Mochdre turned the tables on Saturday in the Intermediate Cup, advancing to the last eight.
A solid performance by Sports from front to back, with the two goals coming midway through the second half from Will Edwards, and in the 95th minute to seal the tie, from Charlie Lloyd.

Seven days after an amazing Welsh Cup penalties win over Tier 2 Ruthin Town, Llanrug experienced the other side of football when they lost via a shootout at Y Glannau in the Intermediate.
A Sion Evans own goal handed the hosts a second-minute lead, but Deion Hughes levelled on 7 before Jared Jones put Y Glannau 2-1 up with 41 gone.
Hughes made it all-square at half time when he converted a penalty.
Ten minutes into the second half, Owain Gibbard put Llanrug 3-2 ahead, but Harrison Bellis restored parity in no time and on 70 he added another for the hosts.
Penalties were forced when Josh Evans made it 4-4 with 78 on the clock.
In a close spot-kicks contests, Y Glannau of the North Wales Coast East Premier triumphed 5-4.
Junction led 3-0 at half time, went further ahead after the break, but in the end had to survive a spirited fightback from 10-man Llanystumdwy to advance.
Tomos Rhys Williams, Greg Hall and Robert Gore put the Railwaymen in command at the interval. Gore struck again on 51 minutes.
With nothing to lose, the hosts went for it, Rhodri Jones making it 4-1 before a late double from sub Tomos Williams (88 and 90+6) ensured a close finish, but Junction hung on.
The hosts also had keeper Guto Roberts red-carded in the 86th minute at 4-1, but the 10 men so nearly pulled off the unthinkable.
Great result for Boded at the unbeaten North Wales Coast East Premier Division leaders.
Llansannan looked well in control when a Lewys Jones pair made it 2-0 at half time, then Luke Molmans added a third on 53.
However, the Anglesey visitors fought back heroically.
Jordan Taylor replied on 59, and although Casey Boylan missed a penalty after 61, Rob Tiesteel pulled another one back on 75.
Meilir Williams put Llan 4-2 up on 81, but Justin Williams (88) and Tiesteel (90+3) ensured Boded forced spot-kicks in a dramatic climax.

McDaid and Callum Davidson netted after 66 and 79 before those two late deciders which included McDaid’s hat-trick goal.
Talysarn performed marvels to take the honours 4-2 at Go Goodwins Stadium.
The home side were on a run of four straight victories, but a Gethin Jones hat-trick and Phil Warrington strike won the day for Celts, Jack Kearney and sub David Hansom replying.
The tie was in the balance at 3-2 to the visitors until Jones completed his Talysarn treble in the 85th minute.
