JD CYMRU NORTH REPORTS AND TABLE -SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

Flint Mountain 2 Ruthin Town 0

Ruthin keeper Daniel Goldston is beaten by Jonny O’Sullivan’s fantastic free kick

Jonny O’Sullivan was the toast of Flint Mountain after his double secured a first win of the season for the team and lifted them off the Cymru North basement.

After picking up just a single point from their opening seven matches, Mountain got off the mark at Bastion Gardens at the expense of a struggling Ruthin, who were knocked out of the Welsh Cup by Tier 4 underdogs Llanrug United seven days earlier.

The hosts started well, skipper Kieran Owens firing just wide on four minutes after the visiting defence failed to deal with a long ball.

Chances were at a premium at both ends before the breakthrough arrived in the 31st minute, O’Sullivan finding the net.

Ruthin pushed for the equaliser after the restart, but as the half wore on, Mountain looked increasingly dangerous on the break.

And a second home goal arrived on 80 minutes, O’Sullivan scoring with a great free kick to seal the points.

Flint Mountain: Dominic Garner, Joe Liy, Shaun McBride, Luke Graham, Kieran Owens (c), Harvey Drazdauskas, Owen Cassidy, Dominic Maher, Jonny O’Sullivan, Danny Reid, Sekouba Camara. Subs used: Rian O’Riordan, Kieran Handley, Euan Causer.

Guilsfield 4 Brickfield Rangers 1

Iwan Matthews and Adam Knott netted twice apiece to seal a comfortable win for Guilsfield over Brickfield Rangers, who replied through Andrew Vale in first half injury time with the score at 3-0 to the hosts.

Matty Williams of Brickfield was sent off in the 77th minute for a second yellow card offence.

Holyhead Hotspur 1 Caersws 1

Still without a win in eight attempts, Hotspur nonetheless edged up a place to fifth from bottom after this draw against Caersws.

The deadlock was broken in the 50th minute, when Craig Whelan converted from a Jake Roberts assist.

The Bluebirds levelled on 64, Max McLaughlin on target, Rhys Hesden the supplier. Late pressure from the hosts brought no reward.

Llandudno 3 Penrhyncoch 0

The Seasiders nudged up to second place, one of three teams on 22 points, after seeing off bottom side Penrhyncoch at Go Goodwins Stadium.

Tudno made it seven wins in eight, remain undefeated and have still conceded just a single goal in the league.

Iwan Cartwright notched the only goal of the first half on 24 minutes, Mark Cadwallader’s eighth of the season made it two on 68, shortly after he had come on as a sub, and fellow replacement Dylan Proctor nabbed his first for the club with 82 on the clock.

Mold Alexandra 1 Buckley Town 2

Max Moore’s 89th minute goal edged the Flintshire derby in Buckley’s favour.

Mold won last season’s encounters between the teams home and away during April, but it was revenge time for Asa Hamilton’s warriors at MKH Stadium, Alyn Park.

Craig Rogers put Alex in front on five minutes, but Ben Guest restored parity from a Bradley Knight assist with 39 gone.

It was heading for a very rare draw between these two until Ruben Lima set up Moore for the decider.

Newtown 4 Denbigh Town 2

After falling 3-0 behind, Denbigh fought back to 3-2 with 20 minutes still to go, only for veteran Greg Draper to clinch it for Newtown with a late fourth.

Draper, Jamie Hyne and Aidan McCann all netted for the Robins within the first 16 minutes – a true flying start.

Alfie Vaughan pulled one back four minutes into the second half, then when Bobby Beaumont-Broadhead cut the deficit to one with 70 played, a poinr or better looked a possibility for the visitors, but Draper had other ideas.
