Radnor Valley returned to winning ways with a two-goal victory over Llangollen at The Bypass, reports Stuart Townsend.
Winless in their last three league outings, the Goats were looking to respond against opponents yet to record an Ardal NE win this season, before entertaining leaders CPD Llanuwchllyn next weekend.
The New Radnor club broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Henry Shipley’s free-kick into the penalty area was converted by Ieuan Price at the far post.
Adam Jones’ charges doubled their advantage in the penultimate minute of the opening half when Price’s 25 yard free-kick thundered back off the crossbar and former Knighton Town forward Sam Sainsbury was on hand to turn the rebound past Ben Lloyd in the Llangollen goal.
The visitors came close to having the deficit in the 65th minute but Otto Jones in the Goats’ goal made a fine save to turn a shot from Kevin Day behind for a corner after driving into the penalty area.
Aaron Jones’ header from a 95th minute free-kick into the penalty area clipped the top of the crossbar, but Radnor managed to see the game out and collect three valuable points.
Unbeaten leaders Llanuwchllyn produced a mighty performance to see off Dolgellau at Cae Marian.
It was goalless until the 44th minute when a Joey Jones own goal broke the stalemate.
In the second half, Meilir Williams made it 2-0 with 47 gone, Steffan Dolben supplying the assist.
Williams sealed the points with a 62nd minute penalty – his 13th goal of the season.
Joe Wozencraft, Rhys Hughes and Harvey Matthews delivered the first half goals which clinched a home win.
Hughes also missed a 27th minute penalty. Eddie Clarke netted an 81st minute consolation for Kerry,
Danny Ives gave Builth a second-minute lead before Llanfair took control, going on to win 5-1 with doubles from Tomos Jones and Josh Astley, plus an OG via Ryan Powell.
Will Howard’s double won the day for Llanrhaeadr, William Cleaton replying for the Spamen in a game which stood 1-1 at half time.
Captain Zac Davies was a hat-trick hero and Josh Mazzarella also found the net as fourth-place Penycae whipped a Corwen side lying third at Afoneitha Road.
Sub Tom Mann bagged a late consolation for the visitors.
A 28th minute Callum Mannion goal was enough to secure second-place Albion the points at Ponciau Park.
Rhos slumped to their first league defeat of the season after going six unbeaten.
