NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE ROUND-UP – SEPTEMBER 13

Michael Latham looks to be Mr Consistent, netting again for FC Queen’s Park and sitting as Division One’s top scorer on 6 goals.
Something had to give in Division 3 as the top two sides with 100% records went head to head. In the end, CPD Caerwys edged out Deeside Dragons. Just the two strikes by Ryan Carrington this week, who is up to 15 league goals for the season. Deeside Dragons’ Keiye Williams has 8 goals after netting a double.
Elsewhere in Division 3, hat-tricks all around as CPD Gronant began their season with a bang. John Hennigan and Gary Fazackerley will have to decide who gets to take the match ball home.

NEWFA Division 1

Queen’s Park finished up with nine men but also celebrated their first league win of the season.
Michael Latham handed the Park a third-minute lead before a Ryan Kershaw double on 49 and 54 and Jordan Williams single after 67 put the hosts four-up.
Brandon Jones grabbed a consolation for Penyffordd with 87 gone, but the home side were worthy winners.
The Park had Kershaw sent off after 63 for dissent and sub Sam Molyneux was dismissed on 88 for a second yellow.

Rhydymwyn 1
Rhostyllen 5

Adam Williams was a hat-trick hero for Rhostyllen in a thumping away victory.
Williams struck on 3, 33 and 90 minutes. Martyn Elms (36) and Tom Douglas (76) also on the mark, Calum Simpson with a consolation after 80 for Rhyd.

Broughton United 2
Chirk AAA 1

Jayden Evans’ double secured the win which edged promoted Broughton up to second place.
Evans netted on 4 and 46 minutes, Brad Pearce replying after 8 for Chirk.

Castell Alun Colts 2
Greenfield 0

After a goalless first half, Daniel Woosey’s 64th minute penalty and a second goal from Ben Bailey on 78 ensured Casty claimed a 2-0 win over Greenfield.
The visitors had Connor Davies sent off after 75 and Robert Parcesepe was dismissed after 90 for the hosts.

Saltney Town 1
Coedpoeth United 3

Coedpoeth raced into a three-goal lead inside the first 25 minutes thanks to Callum Roberts, Joe Colley and a Jordan Hensel own goal.
Tom Harrison responded in added time at the end of the first half for Saltney, but that completed the scoring.

Hawarden Rangers 5
Ruabon Rovers 2

Despite playing for over an hour with 10 men after their goalkeeper was sent off, Hawarden Rangers still managed to emerge 5-2 victors over Ruabon.
Callum Cartwright and Paul Lindfield put the home side two-up before glovesman Joseph O’Connor received his marching orders for a second booking.
Nonetheless, Connor Parry made it 3-0 at the end of the first half, then Thomas Bridges added a fourth after 55 before Tom Williams pulled one back.
Parry made it 5-1 after 78, then Daniel Burnett grabbed a second consolation goal for the visitors.

NEWFA Division 2

Aston Park Rangers 5
Holywell United 0

James Redfern netted on 25, 44 and 79 minutes to make it a treble for winners Aston Park, whose other goals came via Adam Randles with four gone and a Lennon Young penalty after 82.

Ivaylo Nikolov grabbed an 89th minute winner for AFC Deeside in a seven-goal cracker.
Adi Shiire (23 min) and Nigel Guramatunhu (30 and 74) were the Bellevue marksmen, Danny Edmonds (3), Jack Shallcross (pen 69) and Nikolov (78 and 89) ensuring the visitors shaded it.

Deeside Dragons 2
CPD Caerwys 3

All the goals came in the first half of this battle of the top two which saw Caerwys end up narrow victors with a fifth straight win.
Neil Brown and Ryan Carrington (2) did the damage for the visitors, a Keiye Williams pair keeping Dragons in touch.

Johnstown YFC 1
CPD Cei Connah 3

A run of 22 straight defeats came to a welcome end for Cei Connah as they took the honours 3-1 at Matty Jones Circle.
It was a year to the day that the visitors had last won a match – a 4-2 success over Deeside Dragons.
Since then they had not won in 25 matches – managing just a 7-7 draw with Skippy in that sequence.
So Saturday’s result proved a real tonic to the Deesiders, Patrick Jones (pen) on 35, Luke Williams after 65 and Mitchell Williams with 77 on the clock bagging the vital goals.
Callum Poole had earlier given Johnstown a ninth-minute lead. Dwayne Jones was sent off for the hosts after picking up a second booking on 90 minutes.

CPD Gronant 8
Skippy 4

On their return to football after a five-month break, Gronant recorded an 8-4 victory thanks to hat-tricks from John Hennigan and Gary Fazackerley, plus singles via Matthew Lewis and Kallum Roberts.
Joao Da Silva (2), Leonardo Mendes and Matthew Lea hit back for Skippy.

RESERVE DIVISIONS

Mynydd Isa maintain their lead at the Division One summit. while Brickfield’s Kian Davies is up to 6 goals after Saturday’s hat-trick.
Broughton and FC Queen’s Park are tied at the top of Division Two. Park’s free-scoring Sean Humphreys has 10 goals for the season following his treble on Saturday.
