JD CYMRU PREMIER – SEPTEMBER 6-7

Caernarfon Town 3 (Gosset 22, 45+1, Davies 69)
Barry Town United 1 (Hulbert 9)

Still the only unbeaten team in the JD Cymru Premier and proudly top of the table after six matches – Caernarfon Town’s excellent start to 2025-26 continued on Sunday as they recovered fron a goal down to beat Barry.

The Cofis had an early chance when Osebi Abadaki raced clear into the box, but his firm strike from an angle was kept out well by George Ratcliffe,

Barry had started well themselves, though and took a ninth-minute lead when Ollie Hulbert reached an Owen Cuddihy left-wing cross ahead of keeper Connor Roberts to make it 1-0.

The hosts looked to have a clear penalty denied when Sion Bradley appeared to be shoved over in the box while on one of his mazy runs.

The equaliser was not too far away, however, a 22nd minute cross from the right by Abadaki being nodded into the six-yard box by Adam Davies and Daniel Gosset powerfully headed home.

Josh Lock drilled just wide with a left-foot screamer before in first half added time captain Gosset scored a magnificent second for Richard Davies’ men.

From all of 25 yards, the midfielder blasted an absolute missile past Ratcliffe – surely a contender for September goal of the month.

Early in the second half, Barry’s Hulbert drilled against the post and Connor Roberts had to move sharply to block from Ieuan Owen.

Lock was put in the clear for the Canaries, but his attempted lob over Ratcliffe cleared the bar.

The 69th minute brought a decisive third goal for the home side, Abadaki breaking down the right and squaring to Davies who buried the ball into the bottom-left corner.

When Kenton Davies felled Bradley in the box, referee Aaron Wyn Jones pointed to the penalty spot.

Gosset stepped up in search of his hat-trick, but his powerful hit clipped the top of the bar and flew over.

Cardiff Met 1 Colwyn Bay 4

Bay earned their first JD Cymru Premier win of the season as they triumphed 4-1 away at struggling Cardiff Met on Saturday.

The Seagulls were gifted an opening goal six minutes before half-time when Harri John’s headed pass back to Kelland Absalom was not gathered by the Met goalkeeper, allowing Louis Robles to tap home on the line.

Fumpa Mwandwe produced a stunning strike from outside the area to open his Met account and bring the hosts level inside the first minute of the second half, but Jordan Davies restored Bay’s lead just six minutes later with a powerful low drive into the bottom corner.

Robles completed his brace in the 73rd minute as he raced onto the loose ball from Sol Forde’s header and guided his shot past Absalom, while Lewis Sirrell sealed victory for Mike Wilde’s men in stoppage time when he rose highest from Sam Hart’s corner to head home.

Llanelli Town 0 Flint Town United 5

Elliott Reeves was a first half hat-trick hero as Flint earned their second-biggest away win in the JD Cymru Premier – a 5-0 victory away at bottom-of-the-table Llanelli.

The Silkmen opened the scoring with just 38 seconds on the clock as Darren Stephenson met Jake Phillips’ teasing cross and provided a simple close range finish.

Phillips was also involved for Flint’s second goal on 22 minutes when his long throw was not cleared by the hosts, allowing Reeves to head home.

Reeves extended Flint’s advantage in the 44th minute with a clinical curling finish into the bottom corner after playing a neat one-two with Sidi Fofana, before the striker completed his hat-trick in first half stoppage time by latching onto Harry Owen’s long ball, shrugging off Nelson Sanca and volleying past Mike Lewis.

With the game all but wrapped up, Flint’s attack eased off after the break but a fifth goal did arrive in the 79th minute. Sanca fouled Stephenson in the box and Josh Jones stepped up to score the resulting penalty, which Lewis appeared to save before remarkably tumbling over the line with the ball in his hands.

Bala Town 0 Penybont 0

Although held at Maes Tegid, this was another good result for Bala who lie third in the standings level on points with champions The New Saints.

Both sides had their fair share of chances as Bont’s Alex Cvetkovic saw his effort saved by Joel Torrance, while Mael Davies was unable to find the target with his header from just five yards out. Olamide Ibrahim had a glorious opportunity for Bala, but he was denied by Archie Matthews.

Ash Baker thought he had found a breakthrough for Bont when he poked home a loose ball from Kane Owen’s cross, but the defender was deemed to be offside when applying the finish. Torrance was called into action again for the Lakesiders as he tipped away a powerful volley from James Crole.
