One of the most improved players in North Wales women’s football has switched her allegiance from tier 3 to tier 2 for the 2025-26 season.

Hannah Owen has signed for two-time Adran North champions Llandudno after four great seasons at Llangefni Town.

Winger Owen, 32, made 87 appearances for Cefni between 2021-22 and 2024-25, netting 21 goals.

She scored in the team’s first-ever match, a 5-1 victory over Welshpool Town on September 12, 2021, and as well as her 21 goals also provided the same amount of assists.

Owen represented Ynys Môn at the International Island Games in 2023 and 2025. She was an outstanding performer in the recent Orkney games, scoring in a 6-1 win over Hitra.

The popular player won the Betty Pickering Cup with Llangefni in 2023-24 and helped the team finish second in the North East Wales League West Division two seasons in a row.

While sad to lose such a fine player, Llangefni Town Ladies manager Dan Gregg gave a glowing tribute to his departing star.

He said: “Hannah has been a day 1 player for this team, she’s almost never missed training, almost never missed a game. She’s one of the most committed players I’ve ever seen in men’s or women’s football.

“Everyone can seen how hard she’s worked to improve herself over the last few years and with the help of her team-mates, has turned herself into one of the best players around. With that drive and determination she’s shown we have benefited and shared some brilliant moments together, but that drive and determination has also led to Han wanting to try Tier 2 this season.

“A football career can go by in the blink of an eye, so Han has decided now is the time to try life in Tier 2. I’d like to say that Hannah has acted with so much respect and dignity through all this, she’s been honest, I’ve been honest and we’ve both reached this point with so much respect and love.

“I’m sure everyone linked with Llangefni Town will wish her the best of luck at Llandudno. We’ll be watching and supporting you Han, as I’m sure you’ll be supporting the players that will step up and fill the big hole you’ll leave.

“It’s an exciting time for Hannah but also remember it’s an exciting time for us, she leaves us a million times better than when she found us, that’s all anyone can ask in football and in life. Lots of love Han, you’ll be wearing black an white but I know the blood under will always be blue “
