Mochdre are the new leaders of the T20 table after a cracking double victory on Saturday, while early pace-setters Menai Bridge suffered two losses.
Skipper Harrison Jones took 4-5 and top scored with 47 in his Denbigh side’s 65-run caning of Northop at Ystrad Road.
The hosts won the toss and batted, posting 129-6 off 20 overs, Jones and Umer Farrukh (46) putting on 92 for the third wicket, Andrew Oates notching 3-11 for the visitors.
Northop were then dismissed for a paltry 64, Jones’ four-wicket haul well backed by Joe Lewis 3-8 and Ciaran Lucas 2-6.
Big surprise at Tyn-y-Caeau where Bethesda shattered Menai Bridge’s 100% record with a 20-run triumph.
Ben Parker made 42 and Ioan Roberts 39 as Pesda set 145-8 off 20, Ayush Verma 2-16, Liam Bibby 2-25 and Gethin Roberts 2-29 for the hosts.
Bridge were bowled out for 125, Verma 32, Gerallt Roberts run out for 28, while Sushant Thapa took a stunning 5-29 for the victorious visitors.
Will Evans’ 59 off 30 balls – six fours and four sixes – and 53 not out from 26 by skipper Joe Chaplin guided Mochdre to an awesome total of 194-6, Smit Parekh 2-25 and Franco Kasner 2-34 for the visitors.
Bangor could only manage 137-8 in reply, Nathanael Scott 54, Owen Davies 3-22 and Andrew Swarbrick 2-11 for the hosts. Mochdre won by 57 runs.
An opening stand of 74 between Kastun Stoute (45) and Jake James (42) laid the foundations for a Gwersyllt Park win at E;wy Grove Park.
The visitors compiled 157-9 from 20, Will Norman and Tim Cloete both claiming 3-22 and Danny Ryan 2-19 for Saints.
In response, Asaph were sent packing for 125, Duncan Midgley 29 and Matty Ryan 26, Jack Billington a brilliant 5-20 and Cai Pearson 3-24 for a jubilant Park.
Springbok pair Jason Underwood and Chris Taylor produced an unbroken third-wicket stand of 90 which saw Brymbo to a comfortable victory.
Put into bat, Gwersyllt were limited to 115-6, Jack Billington 28 and Iroshan De Silva 27 not out, Joe Norman with 3-16 for the Steelmen.
Underwood cracked four sixes in his 49 not out and Taylor ended on 40 no as Brymbo reached 119-2 in 17.1.
Northop claimed their first win of the tournament at the expense of a Conwy side which is now the only competitor without a victory.
Dan Davies shone brightest with 53 in the Bodlondeb outfit’s effort of 120-5, Elliot Colclough claiming 2-13 for the Flintshire men, who raced to 123-2 off 16.4, Bart Ryan-Beswick 35, Colclough 29 not out and Jamie Northcott 28.
Franco Kasner’s 49 not out proved a key knock as Bangor came out on top by four wickets in the derby at Tyn-y-Caeau.
Carl Jones slammed 54 not out off 41 balls and Ayush Verma added 29 as the Bridge laid down a total of 128-7, Jamie Grimshaw a brilliant 4-9 and Smit Parekh 3-20 for the Citizens, who hit back with 129-6 off 16.3, Kasner’s unbeaten effort coming off 30 deliveries, with Nadeem Rehman adding a vital 35, Dion Holden scooping 2-14 for the hosts.
Mochdre were the team to follow for runs on Saturday, Will Evans hitting 43 and Adam Campion 32 in a mighty total of 193-5, Dylan Hughes an impressive 3-10 for Bethesda, who were limited to 128-5 in response, Carwyn L Williams 38 and Hughes 26 no, Owen Davies 2-20 and Marcus Mangiameli 2-34 for the hosts, who triumphed by 65 runs.
Captain Oliver Da Costa hit 52 in Conwy’s 121-7 off 20, Sam Lewis 2-23 and Joe Lewis 2-27 for Denbigh, who replied with a decisive 124-2 from 15.2, Andy Thomas 50 not out, Harrison Jones 30 to seal an eight-wicket success.
It was the Underwood and Taylor show again as the Steelmen romped to a second victory of the day.
Underwood plundered 58 not out off 30 balls and Taylor struck 42 as the visitors posted a testing 174-6, Sam Aplin also in the runs with 37, Dan Evans 2-18 for Saints.
Asaph’s response ended on 126-8, Matty Ryan 42, Aplin collecting 3-14 and Joe Norman 3-18 for the victorious Wrexham-area travellers.
