There’s a huge Buzz around Bangor after football club lands deal with world-famous kit supplier

  • Hummel is the German word for Bumblebee

CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 has secured a major new partnership with a world-famous sportswear manufacturer.

Hummel will become the official kit supplier for all the club’s teams – men’s, women’s and juniors – in a new five-year deal.

The German-founded Danish manufacturing company of sportswear provide football kits for the likes of Sunderland, Coventry City, France’s Saint-Étienne, 1. FC Köln of Germany, Scotland’s Hearts, Celta de Vigo and Real Betis in Spain and numerous United States clubs.

Hummel has previously been worn by football teams such as Real Madrid, Red Star Belgrade, Southampton, Aston Villa, Benfica and the Danish national team.

The company also supply apparel for Wigan Warriors (rugby league), Wasps (rugby union), plus an extensive list of basketball and handball teams.

The partnership with 1876 was formally agreed this week, following a meeting at Bangor City Stadium with the owners of hummel, marking the start of a new and exciting era both on and off the pitch.

From the 2025/26 season, the men’s, women’s and junior teams will wear bespoke hummel kits.

A Bangor City 1876 club statement said: “We’ve been working closely with hummel to develop designs that honour our history, reflect the spirit of our community and showcase the ambition driving the club forward.

These kits are more than just a new look – they symbolise a bold new chapter for Bangor, and we can’t wait to share them with our supporters.”

As part of the deal, hummel will be opening a franchise to be located in the city centre. The new retail space will bring new energy to Bangor High Street, offering access to hummel’s iconic sportswear while helping reinvigorate the local shopping landscape.

This is a step that reflects the club’s shared belief that football is about more than just the stadium – it’s about the whole city, and the people who make it what it is.

This new venture will provide local sports clubs and supporters with direct access to premium custom sportswear and kit solutions, further strengthening Sports Pro Ltd’s (hummel UK licence holder) commitment to serving the sporting community in North Wales.

Chris Kirby, spokesperson for Sports Pro Ltd, stated, “We are proud to expand our presence in Wales and look forward to supporting Bangor’s vibrant sporting culture with our dedicated franchise on the High Street.’’

The relationship will be the first of its kind and will benefit the community in and out of the stadium, creating growth and employment opportunities for the city and surrounding areas.

Nick Pritchard

Nick Pritchard, Chairperson of Bangor City 1876 FC, said:“This is more than just a kit deal – it’s a bold step forward for the club and the wider community. From creating bespoke designs that our players and fans will be proud to wear, to launching the first hummel franchise in Wales right here in Bangor – this partnership is rooted in ambition, growth and a shared belief in what this city can achieve. We’re building something special, and this marks a major milestone in that journey.”

More information, including official kit launch dates and the first look at our new designs, will be shared over the coming months via the club’s official channels.
