Very sad news – Valley Seniors FC has announced it is folding after just one season in adult football.

The latest team to represent the village signed up to North Wales football at the start of 2024-25, but found life a struggle, finishing bottom of Tier 5 North Wales Coast West Division One.

Despite a very encouraging 7-0 victory over neighbours Holyhead Town in their first league game, Valley managed just two more wins in the campaign, beating Bethesda Rovers 5-1 and Amlwch Town 3-2. All three of their wins came at home ground, Parc Mwd.

Valley released the following statement on social media today: “It is with a very heavy heart that we write this post, Valley Seniors Football Club will officially be resigning for the upcoming season.

“Despite our very best efforts over the past few months, we were unfortunately unable to sustain the financial side of things for the upcoming season, as costs have increased etc.

“We had a plan to put in place for the upcoming and future seasons to sustain our funds and stay comfortable, however the community council rejected our proposal to uphold Parc Mwd’s natural beauty.

“Thank you all so much for the support over the last season and we hope one day we will be back in the football pyramid.”

The first team to represent the village based near Holyhead was Valley Juniors in 1994-95. They stayed in the Anglesey League until 2001-02.

Valley FC joined the league in 2007-08, but lasted just two seasons after propping up the table in 2008-09.

In 2013-14 the village tried again, this time as Valley Athletic. On this occasion, all came good as Athletic were crowned 2014-15 Anglesey League champions, making it a treble with the IPP Cup and Assist-a-Claim Cup triumphs. The Elias Cup followed in 2016-17.

The club became known as simply Valley, then CPD Y Valley, then in 2019-20, CPD Y Fali, which remained its name until the end of 2022-23.

In 2023, stalwart manager Dan Jones announced he was stepping down from all roles at the club at the end of the season.

CPD Y Fali tried to recruit new faces so the senior team could continue, but lack of response meant they would take a break in 2023-24.

Unfortunately, their return as Valley Seniors was to last for one season only.
