Big signing: Prestatyn Town capture experienced midfield ace

No Holts barred – Prestatyn Town have made a big signing as they prepare for a crucial 2025-26 season.

Determined to secure an instant return to the JD Cymru North, the Seasiders have strengthened their ranks considerably by recruiting misfield ace Joe Holt from tier 2 club Flint Mountain.

The 35-year-old has been a massive presence for Mountain over the last two seasons, helping them win the tier 3 Ardal North West title in 2023-24 and then being key in Aden Shannon’s men’s impressive debut campaign in the Cymru North.

Holt made 75 appearances for Mountain, also playing a major role in them lifting the NEWFA Challenge Cup in 2023-24 and reaching the Ardal Northern League Cup final.

Liverpool-born Holt’s past clubs include Vauxhall Motors, Runcorn Town, Lower Breck, Warrington Town, Northwich Victoria. Cammell Laird, Neath, Wigan Athletic, Marine, Chester and Östersunds FK of Sweden.

Gareth ‘Perry’ Thomas will continue to lead Prestatyn in the 2025-26 campaign and a number of other new signings are expected.

Holt is a box to box midfielder who is looking forward to the challenge ahead at Bastion Gardens.

Speaking about his new signing, manager Thomas said: “Delighted to get Joe in, having tried previously to sign him a few seasons ago whilst he was at Runcorn.

“He will bring some much needed experience to the squad as well as leadership and I am really looking forward to working with him”.

Town have already retained a number of last season’s squad, including Alex Jones, James Jones, Casey Faulkner, Leon Atkins, Leigh Craven, Sam Ashton, Zebb Edwards, Tyler Joyce, Dan Wright, Robbie Parry and Rob Hughes.
