Substitute Phil Jones made a dramatic impact when he came on in the 65th minute and went on to score a hat-trick which clinched the Premier Division title for Trearddur Bay Development.
While Bay’s first team has made a big impression over the past three seasons, the Development side is proving the club is very much about the future as well as the now.
A point on Wednesday night would have been enough to seal the title for the Beach Boys, but they made ultra sure by netting twice in added time to be crowned champions.
Having had three points deducted before the match by the NWCFA, Trearddur were still in a strong position to finish top, being level on points with Nefyn but with a better goal difference of +12.
The Anglesey side took the lead on 13 minutes when Lennon Owen found the net and it stayed 1-0 up to half time.
Development Cup winners Nefyn were on a run of eight straight victories in all competitions and they showed what they were made of in the second half, Tristan Harrison levelling on 56 minutes from a Carwyn Trenholme assist.
Phil Jones made it 2-1 to the hosts on 74, Morgan Rowlands the chance supplier, but a minute later Iwan Pennant Williams equalised, Ioan Jones setting him up.
This set up a nervy ending, as a Nefyn winner would have earned them the title, but on 90 minutes Noel Owen provided the assist for Phil Jones to notch his second.
And Jones completed his hat-trick with 96 on the clock – cue wild celebrations as the champions were confirmed.
