CPDM Y Felinheli’s women players reap rewards from an excellent season
It was a time to celebrate as CPDM Y Felinheli held their end-of-season awards.
Felin won the NEWFA Challenge Cup – their third trophy in as many seasons following a NWCFA Challenge Cup double – and finished third in the Genero Adran North.
They also ended Connah’s Quay Nomads’ three-year grip on the NEWFA Challenge Cup.
Manager Aaron Jones-Evans achieved a good balance of experience and youth within the squad, with performances and results in the second half of the campaign particularly impressive.
AWARD WINNERS 2024-25
Most Developed – Sara Baines
Eighteen-year-old progressed well through the season, making 11 appearances including a fine performance in the 2-1 NEWFA Challenge Cup win at holders Connah’s Quay.
Top scorer – Fflur Williams
Reached the 50-goal mark as a Felinheli player during the season and has now netted 60 times in 83 appearances for the club she first featured for in 2019-20.
Another consistent campaign saw her net 12 goals.
Fans Player of the Year and Coach’s Player – Kelly Jones
Popular defender and inspirational captain who played in all 14 of Felinheli’s league games and made 23 appearances in all competitions.
Also made the scoresheet in an impressive 2-0 win over Flint Town United at Cae Seilo.
Club MVP – Jordanne Greenough
Made 25 appearances over the season, scoring three goals and providing 11 assists.
Very consistent, hard-working, never gave less than 100%.
Young Player of the Year – Ellie Jones
Great first season in a Felinheli shirt for this 21-year-old who scored five goals in 20 matches.
Settled into the team perfectly and has deservedly retained her place in the Ynys Môn squad for the International Island Games in Orkney.
Player’s Player and Player of the Year – Llywela Siriol Edwards
One of the signings of the season across North Wales.
Scored 11 goals in 22 appearances, including one absolute missile against Llandudno which surely ranks as one of the best in North Wales women’s football in 2024-25.
Arrived with a great pedigree and delivered, fully deserving of such a prestigious double award.
Also responsible for the Grassroots North Wales Headline of the Season.
