Kinmel Bay end season in grand style with eight-goal salvo to seal third place

Captain Seren Williams starred with four goals as Kinmel Bay rounded off what turned imto a tremendous season with their biggest win of the 2024-25 campaign.
Bay produced a dominant display at Y Morfa to secure an emphatic 8-0 victory over CPDM Llanystumdwy, capping off a 10-game unbeaten run and securing an impressive third place finish in the North East Wales Women’s League – West Division.
Add to that they also won their first trophy in some time – the Betty Pickering Shield – and Naomii Oakley’s side can look back on the season with immense pride.
From the first whistle, Kinmel Bay set the tone with their sharp passing and relentless attacking intent. The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when Amy Chesters calmly slotted home following a precise assist from Lexi Walsh for her 26th goal of a magnificent campaign.
The pressure continued to mount, and just seven minutes later, Seren Williams doubled the lead with a confidently taken penalty after young Walsh was taken down in the box.
The hosts extended their lead in the 36th minute with a well-worked team goal. Walsh found the net after a throw-in pass by Chloe Scanlan. Two minutes later, it was 4-0, with Seren Williams grabbing her second, this time assisted by Sarah Williams.
Kinmel Bay started the second half just as they ended the first— on the front foot.
In the 47th minute, Seren Williams completed her hat-trick with a tidy finish following a smart assist from Georgia Williams.
Not content with three, Williams stepped up again in the 67th minute to curl home a stunning free-kick, making it four for her and six for Kinmel Bay. It was Seren’s 18th goal of the season – almost double her total in 2023-24.
Bex Gregson got in on the act in the 74th minute with her first ever goal, hitting a high ball from outside the box which lobbed the away keeper to make it 7-0 – a hugely popular goal among the players and management.
It meant so much to Bex being able to celebrate the moment on the same pitch her daughter Scarlett – who provided the assist.
Walsh rounded off the scoring just two minutes later with her second of the day and 15th in senior football this season following an excellent Chesters assist.
This commanding win not only extended Kinmel Bay’s unbeaten run to 10 games but also underlined the quality, depth, and determination in the squad. The team has grown in strength as the season progressed, and securing third place is a fitting reward for their efforts and consistency.
Player of the Match voted for by CPDM Llanystumdwy was Amy Chesters, who was relentless all game.
