Y Glannau 0 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 5
Phoenix temporarily hit top spot after leapfrogging a Glannau side they emphatically beat on Saturday.
In a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash, Pen showcased their dominance with a commanding victory over the leaders.
Phoenix’s Alex Brownhill went agonizingly close to opening the scoring, hitting the bar with a header before the deadlock was finally broken in the 17th minute.
Logan Williams delivered a delightful pass to Adam Hold, who beat two defenders before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Brownhill was again denied, this time hitting the post with a well-placed shot, while at the other end, a fantastic save from Elliot Jarvis kept the hosts at bay.
Pen doubled their lead in the 32nd minute when Daniel Williams capitalized on a wayward back pass, outmaneuvering the last defender and slotting the ball home.
The second half began with Y Glannau attempting to increase their attacking momentum, but the visitors looked comfortable in defending against the increased pressure.
Phoenix quickly added to their tally in the 47th minute, with a well-delivered cross from James Hobson met by a powerful header from Daniel Williams.
Just three minutes later, a powerful run from Ricky Jones culminated in a low-driven cross that was unfortunately turned into his own net by home defender Dylan Cunnah.
Despite a commanding lead, the Phoenix continued to push forward. They were unlucky not to score again with Kyle Cooper, Harley Crossfield, and Alfie Caldecott all hitting the woodwork.
Pen rounded off a brilliant afternoon in the 79th minute when quick thinking from Logan Williams found Hold from a throw-in.
Hold, displaying his instinctive finishing ability, calmly placed the ball past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner, completing the rout at 5-0.
