Prestatyn Town chairman James Benbow vows the good times will return

Chairman James Benbow (second from right) is determined to bring back good times to Prestatyn Town

Prestatyn Town chairman James Benbow vows the club is determined to bounce back from the blow of relegation to tier 3.

Town have lost their Cymru North status after managing just four wins from 28 matches this season, condemning them to the third-tier for the first time since 2005-06.

However, in a message to supporters, Mr Benbow said the Seasiders are gearing up for a better future with ground improvements among plans in the pipeline.

The chairman also thanked Prestatyn’s loyal fans for their undying support in a troubled season.

In a statement, Mr Benbow said: “As we bring this season to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the season which is almost behind us and, more importantly, set our sights on what’s ahead.

As chairman, I would like to start by apologising for our form this season and for our relegation into tier 3. This was obviously something no one at the club wanted. I would just like to say a massive thank you to our loyal fans for the support shown this season and assure them this is a short term setback in tier 3 and we will be back playing higher tier football very soon.

“This season has been full of challenges, highs, and unfortunately a lot more lows, but through it all, we have fought together. We’ve shown resilience, passion, and an unbreakable team spirit.
Every training session, every match, and every sacrifice has brought us to this point, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built. It’s just unfortunate that we couldn’t start the season with the squad and management we now have in place.

But let me be clear—this is just the beginning for what we have planned for the future of this club.

We are looking at making some great improvements to the ground. Our priority is to improve the playing surface of our pitch. We knew after installing the drainage last season that we would not see the benefit this season. We are also hoping to improve our home changing rooms for the up-and-coming season. The list of things we want to do is very long but as everyone is aware, we haven’t got that long before our new season starts.

We have been granted planning permission for the new gantry and dugouts so this may also be improved during the off-season.

“I would like to thank everyone at the club this includes management, coaches, matchday staff, committee members and all the people behind the scenes that easily get forgotten. Without all of you, this would be an impossible task. Far too many to name individually, but you all know who you are.

A massive thank you needs to be given to all our sponsors for this current season your support is very much appreciated and needed. A special thank you to Lyons Marian for sponsoring our first team kit. We look forward to your continued support for the up and coming season.

Since Pez (manager Gareth Thomas) and his coaching team came in and joined our coaches already in place, we have seen a massive improvement on and off the field.
We now have structure and a clear view of what is needed for future success.

We have big ambitions for next season. We’re not here to settle. We’re here to push forward, to compete at the highest level, and to make a statement.
That means working harder, pushing ourselves further, and refusing to accept anything less than our absolute best.

This summer, we reset. We come back stronger, fitter, and hungrier than ever. Because when next season kicks off, we won’t just be taking part—we’ll be making an impact.

To our fans again, your support has been incredible. You are the heartbeat of this club, and we will give everything to make you proud of this club again.
