PREMIER DIVISION

Llandudno Amateurs 1 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 5

Kyle Cooper scored once ad provided a hat-trick of assists

Second-place Phoenix stretched their unbeaten record to 20 league matches and remain within a point of leaders Y Glannau with five games in hand.
A real crunch clash is on the cards this Saturday when Pen travel to Glannau for a battle of the top two.
A Saturday evening clash under the lights at Go Goodwins Stadium saw Phoenix see off a determined Llandudno Amateurs 5-1 last weekend.
Pen grabbed the lead just 2 minutes in. A swift move down the left flank saw Kyle Cooper deliver a precise cross that evaded everyone except Ricky Jones, who powered the ball into the bottom corner.
Just 10 minutes later, Adam Hold made it 2-0 at the back post, bundling the ball over the line from a Cooper cross via the left.
Cooper completed his hat-trick of assists in the 15th minute, setting up captain Liam Griffiths for a neat finish.
Despite the early onslaught, the Amateurs displayed commendable resilience and managed to hit back in the 27th minute. A delightful pass from Jay Sutton found Jack Sanderson on the right wing, who unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the area, sending the ball soaring into the top corner.
The hosts almost found a second goal before half time, but a fantastic save from Elliot Jarvis kept it at 3-1.
The second half mirrored the first in terms of Phoenix dominance. Penmaenmawr controlled possession and dictated the pace.
Llandudno’s goalkeeper, Lee Thomas, was busy, keeping the scoreline at 3-1 as Hold and Jones both went close to extending the lead.
In an emotional moment for the Phoenix, striker Alfie Caldecott made his long-awaited return from a 13-month injury layoff in the 82nd minute. He quickly made an impact, Caldecott scoring with a composed finish from the edge of the area, much to the delight of his team-mates and fans.
Cooper, the hat-trick hero of assists, capped off a phenomenal performance in the 89th minute. He unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards that, despite a hand from keeper Thomas, found its way into the net thanks to the combination of power and wind.
Phoenix now set their sights on a crucial top-of-the-table clash against Y Glannau, a team that has been a standout since their promotion from tier 5.
