Prestatyn Town’s new owner is a man already making his mark in local football.
James Benbow is the main driving force and joint first-team manager at Bow FC, who are strong contenders for the tier 5 North Wales Coast Division One title this season.
He formed the Prestatyn-based club last season, and they have gone from strength to strength.
Now comes a new challenge as head of Cymru North club Prestatyn Town.
It is unclear yet what Benbow’s future involvement with Bow, whom he co-manages with Nick Jones, will be, but all should be revealed soon.
Local businessman Benbow takes over at Bastion Gardens, where Bow also play home games, from Jamie Welsh, who stepped down as chairman last week.
In a statement on social media, Benbow said today: “I am truly honoured to be a part of this local club.
“As many of the supporters are aware, PTFC has had great success in the past and this is something we aim to achieve in the very near future.
“We have great ambition for the club, but our immediate attention needs to be turned to our on the field performances.
“As a club the staff and players deserve to be playing at the highest level possible and this is something we wish to work on going forward.
“I’m grateful for the support I have been given so far and I hope to make the fans and the team proud in my future endeavours.
“I would like to thank Jamie the ex-chairman for the smooth transition and wish him all the best for the future.
“Finally, I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at PTFC for their hard work.
“The club simply couldn’t run without them.
“I’ll be looking forward to the future, which starts tomorrow, see you all there at 7.45 KO.”
Tomorrow (Tuesday) the first match of the new Benbow era will see Prestatyn Town host Llandudno in a JD Cymru North fixture at Bastion Gardens.
