Flourishing Clwb Bowlio Rhuddlan Bowling Club with its superb green is once again geared up for a very successful 2025 season.
The Rhuddlan philosophy is that no individual is bigger than any club with A teams ideally consisting of best players available on the day.
The club though welcome players of all abilities and are keen to embrace anyone of any age group new to the game to play in our inaugural Seniors C team.
This provides a perfect opportunity to experience and learn the great sport of crown green bowls without any pressure.
The club will again be operating in five different leagues with three teams now in the Clwydian Seniors League on Tuesday mornings/afternoons.
On Wednesday afternoons, newly promoted Rhuddlan Ladies look forward to their participation in a very competitive Division 1 of the revamped Clwydian Ladies League.
At the second time of asking. they held off their great rivals Bryn Newydd Ladies to take the league title in 2024, having been runners up to powerful Deganwy based Vardre Ladies in 2023. This too, was a noteworthy performance by our ladies team since all conquering Vardre went on to win the Division 1 title last season.
Wednesday evenings see Rhuddlan attempt to cement their promotion in the highly competitive Colwyn/Llandudno League A Division. On Thursday evenings, Rhuddlan A and B teams participate in respective divisions of the Clwyd League.
On Saturday afternoons, Rhuddlan are now in Division B of the North Wales Coast League following two successful promotions in 2023 and 2024, albeit finishing a creditable second each time to all-conquering Criccieth BC.
Practice sessions include Monday afternoons where a buddying system pairing experienced players with newcomers is in operation overseen by the club’s qualified WCGBA Assistant Coaches.
Clwb Bowlio Rhuddlan with its recently refurbished clubhouse has hosted inter-county and inter- league representative matches, staged WCGBA merit competitions and showcases a prestigious annual open mixed triples competition.
This is a consequence of excellent greenkeeping, diligent work by ground staff working parties and high-class catering provision. The club has also gained Wales in Bloom Neighbourhood Awards involving local schoolchildren plus acclaimed community and dementia friendly initiatives.
Chair Mike Elgin paid tribute to every club volunteer who gives freely of their time in a variety of external and internal roles, not only for the good of our club but also enhancing its great reputation in the local and wider community, not least its invaluable support of good causes.
