Although they have had such an encouraging season on many fronts, Sunday actually saw Kinmel Bay pick up their very first league win of the campaign.
In their defence, however, it was only Bay’s sixth league match of 2024-25 in a seven-team division where fixtures are infrequent.
Out of the 17 games Naomii Oakley’s side have played this term, 11 have been in cups.
Bay made it back-to-back wins over Caernarfon at the weekend and they take them on again next Sunday, this time away in the league.
In the latest meeting, Kinmel put on a dominant first-half display to claim a well-earned 3-1 victory.
The first goal came in the fourth minute when Natasha Standing produced a well-hit corner which found the head of Seren Williams who bulleted the ball to the back of the net .
The momentum stayed firmly with the hosts, and just four minutes later, Amy Chesters doubled the advantage with her 18th goal of the season – a composed finish after a well-worked pass from Jen Small.
Kinmel Bay continued to pile on the pressure, and their attacking intent paid off again in the 26th minute.
Seren Williams played a long ball to recent birthday girl Lucy Perry, who struck a superb effort to make it 3-0.
Caernarfon fought back in the second half, pulling a goal back in the 83rd through Elan Evans, but Kinmel Bay’s solid defensive display ensured there was no comeback.
The team managed the game well, limiting Caernarfon’s chances while still posing a threat on the counter.
