No cause to complain about a lack of goals in Ardal North West this weekend.
The four league matches played produced a total of 28 net-finders.

Rhyl moved a step closer to the league title by stretching their lead to 11 points with a fine result at Corwen.

The Lilywhites made it five wins on the bounce and are now undefeated in 15 league outings since losing at Porthmadog at the end of October.

Today’s test at Corwen promised to be a tricky one, but Paul Moore and Ronnie Green’s men struck an early blow when Paul Fleming headed in from a Jason Foulkes assist on 17 minutes.

Fleming turned provider in the 45th minute when he set up Lewis Hodson to nod home, putting the visitors in a very handy position at half time.

And the points were sealed on 70 minutes when Tom Kemp found the net, Billy Holmes this time with the assist.

The away side had the majority of play in the early stages and in the 10th minute Paul Fleming lined up a shot which was blocked by the sliding Calyn Spencer.

At the opposite end Patrick Hinchcliffe went for goal from 25 yards, but his strike went over the bar.

With 17 minutes on the clock Jason Foulkes whipped the ball into the Corwen box, where Fleming was able to head home at the far post to open the scoring.

Midway through the opening period a Corwen free kick went straight into the wall and rebounded to Spencer, whose shot deflected wide of the target.

Two minutes later Scott Evans played a free kick onto the head of a leaping Spencer, whose attempt was gathered by goalkeeper Adam Reid.

Just after the half-hour mark, Rhyl’s Lewis Hodson ran down the wing and crossed to Josh Lawrenson in the six-yard box, who tried a clever back heel finish, but sent the ball wide.

In the last action of the half Rhyl played a short throw-in deep in the Corwen half, which allowed Fleming to loft into the penalty box, where Hodson home.

After the break Corwen’s Scott Evans’ 20-yard free kick went agonisingly wide of the far post.

Just before the hour, Hinchcliffe was off balance; but still managed to get a shot away and forced Reid to dive low and make a save.

With 20 minutes left the points were sealed when Billy Holmes played a corner into the Corwen box, where Tom Kemp nodded home.

Late on, the referee made good use of the advantage rule to allow Tom Williams to blast a shot at goal from distance, which caused Reid to scramble back to his line and make a save.

The goalkeeper started a counter attack, which came to an end when Dylan Proctor shot wide of the target.

The hosts looked for a consolation goal in stoppage time, as Spencer ran down the wing, but saw his powerful shot saved by Reid.

Connah’s Quay Town 6 CPD Pwllheli 0

After seven matches in all competitions without a win, Town stopped the rot in some style with a six-goal rout of Pwllheli.

Harris Thomas, a recent capture from Ardal South West side Undy, truly made his mark with a hat-trick on his second appearance.

Ryan Hewitt, Freddie Watts and Kyle Reid also found the net for the home side.

Three players were shown red cards, all in the first half. They were: Sion Jones and Jason Banks of Pwllheli, plus Edward Brown of Connah’s Quay – all following a 45th minute incident.

Holyhead Hotspur 14 Conwy Borough 0

Statisticians are consulting the Ardal Northern record books after Holyhead amassed a 14-0 victory over bottom side Conwy Borough.

Shay Murphy and Craig Whelan both notched hat-tricks, Kane Roberts scored twice and there were singles from James Phillips, Kyle Murphy, new signing Corey Jones, Alex Jones, Ifan Emlyn Jones and Kenleigh Owen.

An early red card for Borough keeper Jake Cooke certainly had a considerable effect on the game.

Llangefni Town 4 St Asaph City 1

Cefni made it back-to-back wins at the expense of St Asaph at Cae Bob Parry on Friday night.

Ifan Mansoor (2), Aron Hughes-Jones and Osian Jones shared the goals for the home side, captain Jake Walker with Saints’ sole reply.
