Corey Smart was a game-changer for Queen’s Park

NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL LEAGUE – REPORTS FEB 22

Premier Division

Mynydd Isa 1 Coedpoeth United 3
Revenge for Coedpoeth against a Mynydd Isa side they lost to 3-0 at home back in August.
United moved into second place with this victory, cutting the gap on leaders Isa to five points but having played a game more.
Aaron Camplin edged Coedy ahead via a 22nd minute penalty, Nathan Mendoza levelled on 41, but in first half added time, Adam Lloyd restored the away lead.
Oliver Lewis made it 3-1 on the hour and that clinched the points.

Lex XI 3 Saltney Town 1
Liam Collo, Cameron Thomas and Josh Phillips bagged the goals that mattered for the Lawmen, Daniel Clewley replying for the Bordermen.

FC Queen’s Park 4 Castell Alun Colts 2
Queen’s Park trailed twice but had the staying power to outlast the opposition at Queensway Stadium.
Alister Belk handed Casty a seventh-minute lead, Sam Molyneux equalised just before half time via a Jake Harper assist, but Louis Williams edged the visitors back in front on 53, Belk with the assist.
It was 2-2 in the 65th minute after a fantastic cross from Corey Smart was finished off by Matthew Worsell.
Two goals in the closing minutes ensured a Park victory.
Ryan Jakovlevs made it 3-2 from an Andrew Rhys Hughes assist on 84 and Nicky Williams set up Smart for number four after 89.
It was the brilliant Smart who changed the game, coming off the bench for the second half.

Rhostyllen 1 Penyffordd Lions 1
Matty Holmes struck first for Penyffordd after three minutes, but Tom Douglas notched the equaliser on 32.

Ruabon Rovers 2 Greenfield 2
Sam Edwards’ 92nd minute equaliser rescued a point for Greenfield.
Dean Hyland’s 27th minute penalty nudged the visitors in front, but Kyle Evans and Peter Evans hit back for Rovers on 57 and 62 to make it 2-1.

Championship Division

Bellevue 3 Skippy 2
Bellevue rallied from 2-0 down at half time to score three in eight minutes in the second period to snatch a dramatic victory.
Kian Tudor struck twice for Skippy in the first half and missed a chance for a hat-trick when failing from the penalty spot.
Bellevue hit back between the 55th and 63rd minutes, Corren Bagnall (pen), Adinafir Shiire and
Nigel Guramatunhu completely turning the tables.
This was Bellevue’s second league win of the season, which lifted them to third from bottom.

Acton 24 Deeside United 0
Quite a goals glut from Acton with George Pattenden (6), Sean Price (3), Ethan Callaghan (3), Niall Challoner (2), Michael Pugh (2), Joe Garner (2), Ashley Ryan (2), Kyle Coppack, Nicholas Dunne, Andrew Bithell and Alix Godfrey splitting the haul.

Deeside Dragons 0 Broughton United 11
A professional performance brought another three points and a clean sheet in an 11-0 win for the leaders.
The starting strike partnership of Jayden Evans and Luke Muia both bagged 4 goals each whilst Jimmy Ratcliffe, Elliot Evans and Jack Foster all got one. Foster made his first team debut at 17 and also grabbed an assist.
Assists: Lewis Wright 1 Jayden Evans 2, Elliot Evans 2, Ratcliffe 3, Foster 1 and Oly Marple 2.

Holywell United 1 Rhydymwyn 3
Ryan Carrington (2) and sub Connor Davies won the day for Rhydymwyn, Owen Marley striking for the hosts.

Overton Recreational 6 CPD Cei Connah 1
Alex Williams (3), Evan Fowles (2) and James Parry ensured Overton took the honours.

Reserve Division Group A

CPD Rhos Aelwyd Reserves 7 Mynydd Isa Reserves 1
Carwyn Davies (4, 1 pen) and James Haynes were among the scorers for Rhos, Oliver Howarth netting for Isa, who finished with eight men after Charlie Ferguson, Michael Fleetwood and Hari Prichard were all red-carded.

Saltney Town Reserves 3 Llangollen Town Reserves 2
Callum Dodd, with an 87th minute decider, Leon Whitney and Sean Williams were on the mark for Saltney, who had Louis Davies red-carded, Harvey Williams and Sam Baksh-Jones responding for the visitors.

Reserve Division Group B

Castell Alun Colts Reserves 1 Greenfield Reserves 4
Jack Stevens, Corey Kennedy, James Adamson and Ryan Jones notched a goal apiece for victorious Greenfield, Ben Williams on target for Casty, whose captain Reece Jones was red-carded in the 90th minute.

Johnstown YFC Reserves 7 FC Queen’s Park Reserves 4
Robert Cooper (3), Callum Poole (2), Dewi Reeves and Finnley Poole split the goals for winners Johnstown, Daniel Roberts (2 – also red carded) and Luke Armstrong (2) the Park hitmen
