Surely the best win by a North Wales women’s team over the South – ever. UTFW!

Bute Energy Welsh Cup quarter final
Wrexham 5 (Iddenden 29 & 64, Suckley pen 42, Fuller 53, Hughes 90+4)
Swansea City 0
This has to be the best result ever for a North Wales senior women’s football team against one of the South Wales ‘giants’.
Wrexham laid a ghost to rest in some style as they thrashed a Swansea City side they had failed to beat in their last 11 attempts.
Not since 2013-14, when Wrexham Ladies defeated the Swans 3-2 in the Women’s Welsh Premier League thanks to two Ashleigh Hayes goals and an Amber Bailey single, had the Red Dragons celebrated a W over the South Walians.
Since then, City had won seven league, two Adran Trophy and one Welsh Cup clash against the North Walians, the sides also drawing 3-3 in Wrexham AFC Women’s first Adran Premier encounter with the all-whites at the start of 2023-24.
Today’s thumping victory advanced Wrexham to the Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-finals, where either Cardiff City, The New Saints or Pontypridd United await.
Wrexham were on fire from the word go, Ava Suckley’s chip denied by the crossbar after 20 minutes.

The deadlock was broken on 29 minutes when Abbie Iddenden made a smart run and slotted beyond keeper Verity Jones.
Three minutes before the break a Suckley penalty put Wrexham in command..
The lead was increased eight minutes into the second half as Liv Fuller pounced on a loose pass to fire a powerful effort into the net from distance.
Iddenden doubled her tally of goals for the afternoon after 64 minutes, with Brooke Cairns providing a crucial assist.
Substitute Rosie Hughes rounded off a superb home team showing in the 93rd minute, firing in Wrexham’s fifth and final goal.
