Broughton celebrate in the dressing room after Tuesday’s win

Leaders Broughton bounced back from Saturday’s surprise defeat by scoring twice in added time to snatch a dramatic victory at Rhydymwyn.

This was a fantastic advert for Tier 5 football, with a bumper crowd in attendance.

The first half was an even affair, Jayden Evans opened the scoring for the visitors after five minutes, lobbing the goalkeeper after a ball from Evan Wright.

Rhydymwyn levelled on 40 when a Dylan Roberts cross caught out the Broughton defence, Tomos Cumming tapping home.

Broughton piled on pressure in the second half in search of a winner.

However, the hosts thought they had won the game when Karl Bacon smashed home in the 78th minute to put them in front, but the visitors weren’t going down without a fight.

A corner in additional time dropped in the box, the hosts couldn’t clear, and Lewis Jones ended up poking home.

In the aftermath of the goal, Bacon was red-carded when an off-the-ball incident saw the hosts reduced to 10.

Broughton now went on the hunt for three points and Ethan Evans made no mistake when played in by Luke Muia to turn the game on its head.

The visitors went into additional time with the prospect of losing two games on the bounce for the first time this season staring them in the face, but finished the match as the victors.

A fiery encounter played out by two good teams.
