GENERO ADRAN NORTH – SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 9

CPDM Y Felinheli 3 (A Huws 52 & 87, Wellings 67)
Llanfair United 1 (Schofield 45)

Second half substitute Alaw Prys Huws scored twice and laid on an assist as Felinheli overturned an interval deficit to win 3-1 and make it five unbeaten in Genero Adran North.

Felinheli entered Sunday’s game off the back of a superb performance against Flint the previous week, collecting all three points and a clean sheet so spirits were high, but it was Llanfair who started the better at Cae Seilo.

Chances were few and far between for both sides but with Llanfair packing out the midfield it was difficult for Felinheli to get a foothold in the game. Felin did create a few chances but were unable to really trouble the away stopper.

Llanfair did break the deadlock on stroke of half time, the ball bouncing around in the Felinheli box and seemingly being handled by Courtney Ashworth, but then fell to the path of Paris Schofield who slotted home.

The referee adjudged it to be an accidental handball in the build-up and the goal was given. Half-time: 0-1

Felin manager Aaron Jones-Evans made a change at half time and tweaked the shape, bringing Alaw Prys Huws on for Sara Baines, who was unfortunate to be replaced.

This switch instantly had an impact as Felinheli suddenly found some rhythm and control. A couple of chances went begging until Alaw Prys in the 52nd minute latched on to a great through ball from Llywela Edwards.

Prys showed great strength in holding off the last defender with the Llanfair keeper Ffion Davies rushing to close her. The Felin sub then expertly lifted the ball over the stopper to slot it into the top left hand corner.

Hana Wellings scores for Felinheli

Felinheli were now back in it and very much on top. Their second goal came in the 67th minute thanks to the tireless Hana Wellings who had made a lung busting run from deep in her own half to support the Felin attack. Again Prys was at the heart of things, battling away in the box and squaring the ball to Wellings who kept her cool to give the hosts a well-deserved lead.

Llanfair kept battling away but with a depleted squad could not stop the flow of Felin who kept pushing for a third.

Felin made changes with Rubie Davies and Chloe Hughes replacing Wellings and Elsi Williams. In the 87th minute Felin’s pressure paid off with Prys getting her second of the game and sealing the points for Felinheli.
A wicked cross from right to left from Jordanne Greenough found its way to Prys who made no mistake from 6 yards out.

A very competitive game in which Felin had to work hard for their opportunities but had a bit too much for Llanfair on the day.

Alaw Prys Huws smartly scores the opener

Aaron Jones-Evans said: “Llanfair shut us down in the first half, making it a real fight in midfield. They were short on players so I knew if we stayed in the game we would get the better of things in the second half. It was a battling performance again from us but credit to Llanfair as they never gave up the fight either.

“It is so nice for us to have players like Alaw back in the fold, not only for her experience and finishing but to take some pressure off the young players we have had to bed in this season, Alaw is a great player and a great person and the young players we have had coming through this season will do well to watch and learn from her.

“On the whole it’s another three points for us and at this stage of the season it’s points that matter but I am very proud of the character these women show week in week out, they just will not give up!”
