The Arfon derby may be a tier 4 affair these days, but it still commands plenty of interest on the North Wales football scene.
Llanberis rose to second in the North Wales Coast West Premier on Saturday with a hard-fought 3-2 win over local rivals Llanrug.
Dion Owen grabbed an 84th minute decider for the Darans – his fourth goal in as many games.
The prolific Jonathan Sadler put Llanrug in front after nine minutes, but Llanberis’ long-serving captain Nidian Huws levelled on 29, Alan Owen with the assist.
Nonetheless, that man Sadler struck again for the visitors on 39 minutes with his 11th goal in just five games, and 17th of the season overall, to make it 2-1 half time.
Sadler is top-scorer in the Premier and both his goals were the result of Deion Hughes assists.
Five minutes into the second half it was all-square, former Llanrug star Alan Mark Owen turning on the magic in amber with a home equaliser, Peter Mansoor assisting.
It was anyone’s game but the in-form Dion Owen had the answer with the winner six minutes from the 90.

On-fire Boded made it 10 league matches without defeat after a cracking victory at Cae Stanley.
Jordan Taylor’s fifth-minute goal separated the teams at half time, then after the break Justin Williams and Rob Tiesteel also found the net.
CPD Nefyn United 5 CPD Pentraeth 1
Three goals in seven first half minutes gave Nefyn a grip on this Premier Division clash they were never going to relinquish.
Tomi Evans (25 minutes), Deio Gwilym (26) and Owain Prarmore (32) put the Penwaing in command, Evans also providing two assists and Jac Williams the other.
Pentraeth gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Dylan Jones converted from the penalty spot on 49 minutes, but Evans’ second and a late Tristan Harrison strike put the icing on the cake for the hosts.
CPD Mynydd Llandegai 3 Glantraeth 2
Mo Inayat Hosany (2) and Jamie Whitmore shared the goals for victorious Llandegai, Andy Clarke having given Glantraeth the lead from a 33rd minute penalty before a Dylan Price Jones own goal offered the visitors hope when they were 3-1 down.
CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 3 Talysarn Celts 0
After a goalless first half, Cedri Jones, Caio Henshaw and Cian Pritchard netted after the break to earn Penrhyndeudrath maximum spoils at Maes-y-Parc.
CPD Llannerchymedd 2 Gwalchmai 2
Arden Gisbourne made it 10 goals in nine games with a double which earned Llannerchymedd a well-deserved point at home to high-flyers Gwalchmai.
Connor Owen’s landmark 100th club goal in 119 appearances and a Cian Owen equaliser after 75 bagged Gwalch a draw.
