Hat-trick star Jess is key factor in Cefni win over sparkling Kinmel Bay

NORTH WALES WOMEN’S LEAGUE WEST DIVISION
Llangefni Town 3 (J Jones 16, 21, 83)
Kinmel Bay 2 (E Jones 59, Chesters 68)
Jess Jones proved once more what a priceless asset she is to Llangefni as her hat-trick delivered maximum points at home to a determined Kinmel Bay outfit.
And what a game it turned out to be!

Before the match, a minute’s silence was held in honour of Shelley Spruce, mother of Llangefni goalkeeper Katie, who has sadly passed.
Home players wore black armbands and Katie thanks the club for their support, as well as Kinmel Bay for observing the minute’s silence so respectfully.
Kinmel Bay struggled in the first half, the seven-week break from football certainly showing with the players up against it fitness-wise versus a strong Llangefni side.
The first home goal came from Jess Jones in the 16th minute with a good strike, stand in keeper Alys Marsh-Hughes narrowly missing the ball bound for the back of the net.
Five minutes later Jones scored the second for Llangefni.
From here until the interval, Kinmel Bay defended well with most of the game being played in their half.
Half time the game stood at 2-0 to the home side.

The second half started with Kinmel Bay showing pure drive and determination, and quickly settling into the game.
A couple of positional changes and a pair of fresh legs were made in the 54th minute, closely followed by Georgia Williams tackling a Llangefni defender and whipping the ball across the box where Elin Jones hit a lovely strike to find the back of the net, making it 2-1.
The goal definitely fired the Kinmel Bay ladies up and they played some lovely football. The second goal for Bay came in the 68th minute with a clean strike from top-scorer Amy Chesters which saw keeper Katie Spruce narrowly miss the save.
Standing at 2-2 both teams battled hard with various chances being created at each end, but it was Llangefni who managed to secure the 3-points with a final goal by Jess Jones, a well-placed strike in the 83rd minute. It was Jones’ 23rd goal of the season.
