First Welsh Cup meeting in 30 years between Nomads and Mold will be live on S4C

Next month they will meet in the Welsh Cup for the first tume in 30 years and fittingly their latest clash is being shown live on TV.
The round four tie between holders Connah’s Quay Nomads and giant-killers Mold Alexandra has been selected for live Sgorio coverage by S4C.
The fixture at the Essity Stadium will kick-off at 5:20pm on Saturday 14 December and will be available to watch on S4C, S4C Clic and Sgorio’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
The teams last played each other in the Welsh Cup in 1994-95, when both were in the League of Wales and Connah’s Quay ended up 3-2 home winners in the second round battle.
Quay went on to face Wrexham in the fourth round and were beaten 4-0 at the Racecourse. It was the last season Welsh clubs competing in the Football League or who were exiled in the English pyramid were allowed to enter the Welsh Cup.
Nomads are currently eighth in the JD Cymru Premier, while Mold sit sixth in the JD Cymru North.
Connah’s Quay are the current JD Welsh Cup holders after beating The New Saints in last season’s final and have progressed past Guilsfield and Trefelin in the competition so far this term.
This is Mold Alex’s first ever appearance in Round Four, after they caused the biggest upset of the last round by winning 2-1 against top-flight Briton Ferry Llansawel.
