New Llay Welfare boss Scott is determined to turn around the tier 2 club’s fortunes

New Llay Welfare manager Jord Scott believes there is enough quality in the squad to turn around a disappointing start to the season and remain in the Cymru North.
Llay moved quickly to appoint Scott following the departure of Phil Hudson yesterday.
Scott, 28, has been promoted from first team coach to become the latest boss of the Wrexham-area club.
Hudson and Llay parted ways by mutual consent after a disappointing start to the season has culminated in the Welly sitting next-to-bottom of the tier 2 league.
Welfare were promoted to the Cymru North last term with Hudson taking the reins at the start of this season.
Scott has worked alongside Hudson, but now comes the opportunity to show what he can do in the hot seat.
The new manager said: “I am delighted to accept the 1st team manager’s job at Llay. Firstly I want to thank Philly Hudson who brought me into the club, who was a colleague but also a friend and have no doubt the phone will ring for him soon – heโs a top manager and man.
“In terms of Llay, the results havenโt been what we have wanted but the performances have been positive and I’m sure we will turn it around soon.
“We have a great squad and we are working hard on and off the pitch to stay above the dotted line. Llay is a fantastic club with a lot of plans moving forward which I am excited to be part of.”
New chief Scott began his coaching career managing Poulton Royal in the West Cheshire League at just 25 where he earned promotion, before moving on to work as assistant-manager at Cammell Laird 1907 in the North West Counties Football League.
Following his time with the Shipyarders where he picked up a Wirral Senior Cup win, he joined Ruthin Town in April 2023 as assistant-manager, staying with the club for a year before opting to join former colleagues Hudson and Ben Hughes at Denbigh.
He then quickly moved on to Llay with Hudson in the summer.

Scott leads the alternate provision programme at Tranmere College and lectures for the University of South Wales.
He has obtained his UEFA B Licence with the aim of progressing to the A, adding to his degrees in teaching and mental health.
