North Wales Coast West League: Gwalchmai off the mark, Hellfeld hat-trick inspires stunning Llanberis comeback

NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE REPORTS – AUGUST 8

Premier Division

Gwalchmai 3-1 CPD Llanystumdwy

A first win of the season for Gwalchmai and a well-deserved one.

The squad looking strong with only two regulars missing, Gwalch were out to make a good impression and they certainly did.

They played some nice football and used the size of the pitch to stretch the game which forced Llanystumdwy to work. The hosts looked very comfortable on the ball and were patient in their build up.

In the 14th minute the deadlock was broken with a fantastic finish from Luke Llewellyn who dribbled down the left hand side and cut inside with a lovely strike which left the keeper helpless.

Gwalch were eager to add another and earned a penalty in the 32nd minute with Alex Cunningham stepping up and keeping his composure to send the keeper the wrong way.

For the second half Gwalch came out well and didn’t drop their momentum as they had Llan on the back foot from the off. A few dangerous balls were played across the box which the home side were unable to finish.

However, it became 3-0 on 64 minutes when long ball over the top was brought down on the left side of the box by Tom Hughes who turned the full-back and bent his effort into top corner.

Substitute Iwan Richards pulled one back for Llan. 

CPD Aberffraw 4-1 Llanrug United

Aberffraw led 3-0 at half time and went on to complete a comfortable win over their visitors.

Aaron McQuire-Jones opened the scoring on 16 minutes, Geraint Jones added a second after 23 and Andy Clarke grabbed number three with 37 on the clock.

Andrew Jones made it four on the hour before Carter Davies notched a consolation for the visitors.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 2-2 Cemaes Bay

Cian Owen’s double handed Cemaes a 2-0 half time lead, but Blaenau hit back to grab a point in the second period courtesy of goals from Ceri Roberts on 51 minutes and Owain Jones-Owen after 86.

CPD Llanberis 4-3 Bontnewydd

Captain Kurt Hellfeld grabbed a late hat-trick as Llanberis battled back from 3-1 down to take the honours with a 91st minute winner.

Ben Jones gave the Darans a seventh minute lead, but Llyr Williams and Adam Jones edged Bont in front by half time and Cai Williams stretched the away lead with 50 gone.

Hellfeld then took centre stage, scoring on 78, 80 and 90+1 to snatch the win.

Nantlle Vale 1-1 CPD Boded

All-square at Maes Dulyn, both goals coming in first half inuury time.

Aaron Griffiths scored first for Vale with the clock showing 45+2, but Boded levelled a minute later through Chris Jones, who has scored in each of his team’s five matches so far, netting six goals.

Talysarn Celts 6-1 Gaerwen

Talysarn made it back-to-back 6-1 victories, Jack Usher (2), captain Tomos Williams, Gethin Jones, Glyn Hughes-Thomas and Jac Thompson splitting the home goals, Calum Thomas pocketing a consolation for Gaerwen.

Division One

Bethesda Rovers 4-2 Llanfairpwll

Rovers transferred their fine early season form in the cups to the league on Saturday.

Dean Redmond and Herbie Hofsteede both delivered doubles for the home side, who had Gethin Hughes red-carded in the 55th minute.

Tomos Williams and Luke Owen replied for Llanfairpwll.

Caergybi 2-3 CPD Pentraeth

Charlie Dales (2) and skipper Connor O’Neill shared the goals which secured three points for Pentraeth at Millbank, James Ryan (pen) and Jake Chapman responding for Holyhead, who were reduced to 10 men when James Jones was sent off after 52 with the score at 1-1.

Dales scooped the winner in the 90th minute.

CPD Caernarfon Borough 2-3 Llangoed & District

Ethan Walker, Matthew Morris and Dylan Jones supplied the goals which won the day for Llangoed, Rhys Jones and Jamie Brownley on target for Boro.

Glantraeth 0-3 CPD Mountain Rangers

Josh Williams (2) and Morgan Jones provided the scoresheet entries for a triumphant Mountain Rangers at Trefdraeth.

CPD Llanerchymedd 1-5 CPD Deiniolen

Sion Roberts, Jac Davies and Ethan Kiernan all scored in the first half to give Deiniolen a comfortable interval lead.

Cian Pleming made it four before Lewis Connor replied, but Sion Foulkes ensured it became 5-1 with 72 gone.
