Welsh Cup: Llandudno pip Nomads on pens, plus reports from Rhyl 1879, NFA, Pwllheli and Llanystumdwy

Jasmin Dutton twice proved her immense worth to Llandudno by netting the late penalty to keep her team in this tie before winning it with a second successful spot-kick in the shootout.

And stand-in goalkeeper Cat Jones was also a hero for the home side with a vital save in the end of match 12 yards head-to-head.

What a Welsh Cup tie it proved to be at Go Goodwins Stadium between these two great sides.

Already, it looks destined to be between this pair for the Tier 2 Genero Adran North title.

Even before they have met in the league this season, Tudno and Nomads have played out two close-fought cup ties.

Quay won the first 2-1 in the Genero Adran Trophy, while Llandudno edged the return 5-4 on penalties in Sunday’s Welsh Cup clash.

Llandudno led 2-0 at half time, but three goals after the break put the Deesiders in front with 20 minutes left. The Seasiders refused to buckle and Dutton levelled from the spot to force a shootout which saw the hosts prevail.

Things began well for the Adran North champions, Ella Jones’ 15th goal of the season from a Kelsey Davies assist putting them one-up after 14 minutes.

On 32 minutes, the in-form Rebecca Jarvis-Evans notched her seventh goal of the campaign from close range.

Half time 2-0 to Tudno, but Jordan Parry’s visiting side were far from finished.

Four minutes after the restart, Anna Marsh scored to get Quay back into it.

Then came a big turnaround as Natasha Spearing equalised on 68 and Polly Wild-McGregor put the visitors 3-2 up on 70.

Tudno rallied and Dutton’s pen with four minutes left made it three-apiece.

No further score, so it would be decided on penalties

NFA 3 Airbus UK Broughton 1

A first win of the season for NFA saw them progress to the last 16.

The Rhyl side had an excellent first half, goals from Libby McClelland, Kayla Hargreaves and Amy Webster putting them three-up at the break.

Airbus, from a league below, put up a good battle in the second half but could only manage a single goal through Ffion Jones two minutes from time.

CPDM Y Rhyl 1879 0 Aberystwyth Town 8

A tough day for tier 2 Rhyl 1879 against Adran Premier opposition.

The Lilywhites started well in the first half, competing with Aberystwyth and making it difficult for them.

However, the visitors were able to establish a three-goal lead by the break.

Aberystwyth added five more after the turnaround, but the home team dug deep and fought until the very end – the management could not have asked for any more.

POTM – Jaz Mollatt, who played at right back for the first time and had a brilliant game. Jaz dealt with the pace of the wingers very well and put some great tackles in.

Aber scorers were: Hannah Davies (2), Lleucu Mathias (2, 1 pen), Lily Moralee-Hughes, Imogen Scourfield, Libby Isaac, Shauna Chambers.

CPDM Llanystumdwy 0 Wrexham 11

It was always going to be a very tough task for tier 3 Llanystumdwy against last season’s Welsh Cup runners-up Wrexham from the Adran Premier, but home team manager Sion Parry was proud of his players.

The visitors were held to a 2-0 lead until the 55th minute, after which their superior fitness and professional status told.

Wrexham scorers were: Amber Lightfoot, Olivia Fuller, Brooke Cairns (2), Rebecca Pritchard, Natalie Clark, Phoebe Davies, Abbie Iddenden (2) and Rosie Hughes (2).

Llan boss Parry said: “Incredibly proud of these girls today, to keep a team of Wrexham’s stature down to 2-0 for 55 minutes is some going

“Tired legs against a team of that quality meant they took full advantage from that point on, but I couldn’t ask for any more from these girls.”

Adran Premier second-place side Saints ran out worthy winners, but were given a good battle by tier 3 underdogs Pwllheli.

Emily Ridge (2), Chantelle Teare (2), Lexi Jones and Helen Evans shared the goals for the visitors.
