Rhodri’s way with words (and numbers) get him and his favourite football club in TV spotlight

The halcyon days of Richard and Carol may be in the past, but Countdown is still one of the grooviest shows on TV – the perfect entertainment half-hour for Wordsmiths and Number Crunchers everywhere.
And this week saw a North Wales football club – and one of its owners – become part of the game.
Fan-owned football was mentioned on Channel 4’s legendary quiz show thanks to Bangor 1876 fan and co-owner Rhodri Tomos.
When introducing him on the show on Thursday, October 10th, host Colin Murray had a chat about the club with Rhodri.
“I’ve watched the show for years,” said Rhodri, “and now that I’m retired, I thought I’d give it a go.“
“When I got accepted onto the show I had to fill in some questionaires about my interests and naturally Bangor 1876 featured prominently.
“As Colin is a huge football fan and is associated with Pontypridd in the Cymru South, it was no surprise he chose to talk about that.”
When the cameras stopped rolling, Colin spoke of his support of fan-owned football clubs and wished 1876 all the best for the rest of the season.
As for the show itself… well Bangor 1876 now have a Countdown champion in our midst! If you missed the show you can catch up on All4 – Countdown, Thursday October 10th edition.
