Flint’s women take many positives from tough defeat at champions Llandudno
Flint Town United took plenty of positives from their 6-1 defeat at champions Llandudno in Genero Adran North on Sunday.
Although 4-0 down at the interval, the Silkwomen refused to be overrun in the second half and scored a tremendous consolation goal through Ruby Hastings.
Ella Jones (4), Angharad Jones and Jasmin Dutton supplied the home goals.
The newly-promoted Flint side knew tier 2 would present much tougher tests than tier 3, where they were crowned invincible North Wales East champions last term in just their second season since formation.
The likes of Llandudno are highly expreienced and score lots of goals. Games against teams such as Connah’s Quay Nomads and CPDM Y Felinheli could also prove difficult, but Flint are certainly good enough to hold their own at the higher level.
The management are constantly looking to strengthen and have key players to come back in the coming weeks.
After the Llandudno defeat, Flint delivered the following comments:
“Tough game yesterday for the Silkwomen!! Being newly promoted, we always knew this would be one of our hardest games but credit to Llandudno, they were a great side.
“Our ladies played brilliantly, their work ethic and determination could not be faulted, well done ladies!
“Huge congratulations to our new signings, Ruby Stevens and Mia Warbuton!
“Ruby had a great game, made some unreal saves and stayed composed under pressure. This was Mia’s first game at senior level. She stood confident, created chances with good technique, proving her position at this level.”
POTM was given to industrious captain Ruby McGilloway, who was also praised by Llandudno’s departmenr manager Billy Fuller for her 100% effort.
