Prestatyn Town manager Chris Morrell resigns after just four games at the helm

Chris Morrell has stepped down as manager of Prestatyn Town after just four games in charge.

Morrell confirmed his decision to Grassroots North Wales this evening.

The Seasiders are bottom of the tier 2 JD Cymru North on goal difference after Friday evening’s 7-3 defeat at leaders Airbus UK Broughton.

Since Morrell took on the manager’s role at Bastion Gardens last month, Town have lost three league matches and went down 9-0 at Gresford Athletic with a weakened team in the Welsh Cup.

Prior to his first official game at the helm, a spirited 3-2 defeat at Buckley Town, Morrell had spent a short time as caretaker-manager, during which Prestatyn beat Llay Welfare 6-2.

With some experienced players on board mixed in with a number of lower-tier names, Town have lost four games on the bounce, conceding 24 goals.

There is no doubting Morrell’s ability as a coach which has brought him success in the past, especially with the North Wales Coast FA sides, but this latest stint in charge with Prestatyn did not work out.

Prestatyn Town will shortly begin a search for a third manager this season.
