Seventeen-year-old substitute Haydn Rutter was the toast of Ruthin after his second half hat-trick secured a thrilling Vale of Clwyd derby win over Denbigh.
Visiting keeper Alistair Macaulay was forced into a good early save before the travellers took the lead on 21 minutes, Tom Salisbury heading in brilliantly from a Morgan Fricker corner.
In the 34th minute Ruthin levelled. Gruffudd Hughes-Owen, also just 17, was fed through just right of centre and slid the ball home past Macauley.
Like in the first half it was Ruthin who began the restart strongest, Hughes-Owen forcing Macauley into a great save before sub Rutter gave the home side the lead with a neat finish on 53 minutes.
Denbigh rallied and on 68 minutes Gabriel Hinchcliffe found Salisbury, who rifled the ball home from 25 yards.
Before the visitors could even think of regrouping, Ruthin nudged themselves ahead a minute later, Rutter again with a smart finish from close range.
On 84 minutes, Denbigh’s Fricker made a challenge which the referee harshly adjudged to be a foul and quickly brandished a second yellow card.
As Denbigh committed bodies forward Rutter completed his hat-trick in stoppage time.
Goals from Luca Filby, Wayne Edwards and Ben Richards earned Mountain three points away to their local rivals.
The Flint side maintained their 100 percent record with a sixth straight victory which keeps them second.
