Cricket: Liverpool Competition – Bay on brink of promotion, Tidswell bags 9-47 for Prestatyn

Colwyn Bay will seal a return to the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition Premier League if they pick up just two points from their final game at home to Orrell Red Triangle on Saturday.
Bay could even win the First Division title, depending on how they perform at Penrhyn Avenue, and the team in top spot and six points ahead of them, Bootle, fare in their final match at home to Liverpool.
First Division top three with one game each remaining

Colwyn put themselves in prime position for promotion with a tense four-run win at St Helens Town last weekend.
Bay won the toss and elected to bat, but were surprisingly bowled out for just 109 in 49.2 overs by the next-to-bottom side.
Skipper George Johansen top-scored with 29, while Matthew Bielby claimed a very impressive 4-8 off eight for the hosts.
In reply, St Helens were very well placed on 95-5 needing only 15 to win, but they lost their last five wickets for just 10 additional runs.
Dulanjala Mendis picked up 4-41, Paul Jenkins a majestic 3-20 off 13 and Jack Parry snared 3-31 from eight.
Mendis is now up to 79 league wickets for the season at 9.66 apiece, Parry has 33 and Jenkins 32.
In the 1st XI Second Division, Northop Hall round off their season at home to Hightown St Mary’s on Saturday, while Prestatyn could still avoid finishing bottom if they see off visitors Norley Hall.
Last weekend saw Prestatyn impress in winning by 50 runs at Parkfield Liscard.
Rhys Jones led the batting chart with 61 and Roht Kaimal added 31 as the North Wales side were all out for 147 after opting for first knock.
Adam Tidswell then scooped a remarkable career best 9-47 as the hosts were sent packing for 97.
Tidswell moved onto 47 league victims for the season at 14.30 after a wonder spell. Points: 22-5 Prestatyn.
Northop Hall were beaten by five wickets at Norley Hall.
Despite 51 from skipper Ben Slater, Northop Hall were all out for just 94 and the hosts replied with 97-5, James Hurlin 3-19 off 14. Points: 20-2 Norley.
In the 2nd XI Premier Division, Colwyn Bay seconds posted 194-7 at home to Ormskirk seconds, who hit back with 195-3 to win the day.
Captain Tom Roberts made 54 and Harry Spillane 45 not out for the hosts.
Bay, who will finish in the relegation positions, travel to Wallasey for their final game this Saturday.
In the 2nd XI Second Division, Northop Hall seconds defeated Nortley Hall seconds by 78 runs, 156 playing 78 all out.
2ND XI Second Division top three – one round of games left

Gareth Fox made 37 and Ben Arden 34 for the Flintshire side, Sion Hellen bagging 5-30 and Fox 3-16 in the bowling. Hall could still claim promotion depending on this weekend’s outcomes.
Hall seconds visit Hightown St Mary’s 2nd XI, while Sutton St Helens are away to sixth-place Parkfield Liscard 2nd XI.
Prestatyn seconds lost by a single run at home to Parkfield Liscard 2nd XI, 71 playing 70.
Ashley Jones grabbed 5-23 and Ben Williams 2-16 for the North Wales hosts, but their batting let them down, Lucas Sheridan best with 20.
