Amy helps Celtic go top of the SWPL

Amy Richardson enjoyed a winning debut for Celtic tonight

Amy Richardson was a winner on debut for a Celtic side which triumphed 4-2 at Montrose to claim top spot in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

Richardson was a first-time starter in the Ghirls’ side this evening which made it seven league games without defeat and displaced previous leaders Rangers, who have played one match less.

The Penrhyn Bay girl played 66 minutes at Links Park before being substituted at a stage where the current SWPL champions were 3-0 up.

On a slightly disappointing note, Richardson also picked up the first yellow card of her career in what was overall a solid all-round first showing for the club she joined on a three-year deal in the summer.

Republic of Ireland international Saoirse Noonan netted a hat-trick for Celtic at Montrose, who fought back from 3-0 down to 3-2 before a fourth sealed it for the hoops. Maria McAneny was the other Celts scorer.

Wales Under-19 international Richardson hopes a good run in the Celtic side will boost her chances of some full caps for Cymru.
