JD CYMRU NORTH REPORTS – FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

Bangor 1876 4 Flint Mountain 1

Two goals apiece from Corrig McGonigle and Sam Jones guided Bangor 1876 to victory after they had fallen behind at home to Flint Mountain.

It was the visitors who threatened first. Jack Parry got his head to the ball before keeper Carl Jones could claim it, but nodded wide.

Shortly afterwards, Andy Brown seemed set to open the scoring from inside the six-yard box via another header, but Jones denied him with an excellent save.

Mason Blackwell-Jones was in the thick of the action as ever for Bangor 1876

In first half injury time, Flint opened the scoring. Jones saved brilliantly from Joe Holt’s initial effort but Alfie Clark was on hand to turn in the rebound from close range.

Just as it looked like Bangor would be heading into the changing rooms a goal down at the interval, they drew level.

Sam Jones played in Mason Blackwell-Jones who beat his man and played the ball across the six yard line.

A visiting defender slipped when trying to clear the ball, enabling McGonigle to net from six yards out.

HALF-TIME: BANGOR 1876 1-1 FLINT MOUNTAIN

Three minutes into the second half, Bangor took the lead. James Barry’s cross from the right reached Sam Jones at the back post and the attacker scored with a powerful low shot.

Barry came close to another, but goalkeeper Reece Thompson displayed sharp reflexes to block his shot.

On the hour mark, 1876 made it 3-1. A free kick on the left by Joe Culshaw was initially headed clear but Sam Jones was on hand to fire home from the edge of the box.

McGonigle threatened twice unsuccessfuly, but the prolific striker was soon again at the heart of the action.

Blackwell-Jones was fouled near the right touchline with 20 minutes left, McGonigle stepped up to take the free kick, curling in a precise shot from a tight angle to score with an almost identical wonder to his second goal away to Colwyn Bay at the start of the season.

Buckley Town 3 Prestatyn Town 2

Heartbreak for Prestatyn as they lost a two-goal lead in the final 20 minutes and ended up conceding a late decider at Buckley.

After the hosts hit the woodwork twice in the first half, Buckley scored at Buckley! Prestatyn striker Oli Buckley got in behind the home defence and finished well.

Only a fine stop from Bucks keeper Ryan Goldston from a Tom Weir strike denied the visitors a second before the break.

Three minutes into the second half joy for the Seasiders as Jacob Barratt made it 2-0 with a corker from the edge of the box.

From here, Bucks really piled on the pressure, but it was not until the 73rd minute that Liam Burgess finally opened their account.

Four minutes later, it was 2-2 when Liam Driscoll struck, and Bradley Knight bagged the winner on 83.

Anthony Jones was dismissed in added time for Prestatyn for a second yellow.

Denbigh Town 2 Colwyn Bay 4

Craig Lindfield’s double helped the Seagulls extend their unbeaten run to eight games with a 4-2 win at Central Park.

Tommy Creamer and Dan Atkins were the other Bay scorers.

Bay were in front after only five minutes when Creamer netted from a rebound after Denbigh keeper Aaron Jones had made a brilliant save to keep out Lloyd Marsh-Hughes’ header.

With 580 in attendance, the Denbigh fans were lifted when their team equalised via Keelan Williams’ shot from 18 yards

However, five minutes later it was 2-1 Bay via a diving header into the bottom corner by Lindfield.

Just before half-time Lindfield added another from a corner.

Bay made it 4-1 on 75 minutes, Creamer’s back heel finding Ethan Roberts and his low cross was turned in by second half substitute Atkins.

Rhys Williams had earlier made a good save from Nathan Brown’s free kick, but sloppy defending did allow Denbigh to pull a goal back in added time through Sam Duffy.

Gresford Athletic 1 Guilsfield 0

Charley Edge’s 44th minute goal sealed a welcome second league win of the season for Gresford which lifted them out of the bottom three.

Llandudno 1 Airbus UK Broughton 2

Airbus made it eight straight league wins – but only just.

Jake Eyre’s winner in the NINTH minute of added time grabbed a hard-earned three points for the runaway leaders.

Llandudno made the Wingmakers really struggle for their reward.

The hosts struck first through Harvey Bennett in the 26th minute and it remained 1-0 up at half time.

And the chances of a sensational upset at Go Goodwins Stadium looked increasingly likely until Ryan Edwards equalised with a strike from the edge of the box on 85 minutes.

Tudno would have been well worth a point, an outcome which cwuld have ended Airbus’ 100 percent record, but Mark Allen’s side stole it with 99th minute decider from sub Eyre, who came on with 83 on the clock, scoring with a composed low finish.
