Report: Mr Treflyn Jones
Tom Hilditch was a hat-trick hero for a Port side whose final victory margin was a little flattering.
The 24-year-old Hilditch made it nine goals in just six games since his move from Prestatyn Town.
However, Llanrwst more than played their part in a thoroughly entertaining match under the lights at Y Traeth.
Port got their noses in front with barely 3 minutes on the clock.
A shot from distance by Ryan Williams was slightly scuffed before Hilditch nipped in briskly behind the defence to toe-poke the ball at full stretch past a bemused Cian Williams in the Llanrwst goal.
Shortly before the 20-minute mark, a glorious 25 yard free-kick by Llanrwst skipper Leon Doran was met by an equally fine save by Ollie Farebrother as he parried the ball over the bar.
Then, from the ensuing corner, the Port custodian made another great stop low to his left.
Port then went close on a couple of occasions before doubling their lead.
A dangerous attacking move by Llanrwst broke down in Port’s box before Caio Evans sprinted down the right wing and delivered a tremendous cross to Hilditch who headed home with the force of many a shot to give Port a 2-0 cushion.
Rhys Alun missed a golden chance to add a third before the interval.
Ten minutes into the second half, Rhys Alun picked up the ball in a central position some 25 yards out and swerved past a defender before unleashing a thunderbolt of a strike into the roof of the Rwsters net. One of the best goals seen at Y Traeth for many a season.
On the 70-minute mark, a loose pass in the Port defence allowed Sam Thomas to sprint at goal and slot the ball with admirable calmness past Farebrother to make the score 3-1.
However, Hilditch had the last word, a glorious chip beyond the back-pedalling keeper into the corner of the net completing the scoring and his hat-trick.
All-square in the island derby with Cefni clinging on grimly for a draw in the closing stages after being reduced to 10 men.
After a goalless first half, Hotspur took the lead on the hour through an Alun Roberts own goal.
Five minutes later, Jack Smith put Town back on terms from an Osian Jones assist.
Cefni had Dan Thomas red-carded in the 74th minute, but the hosts managed to end up with a share of the spoils.
After the game, Hotspur manager Darren Garmey commented: “It was far from our best performance and to be honest it felt like a loss.
“We should have taken advantage of the sending off but we didn’t so we can’t help but think we have let them off the hook again. Fair play to them they defended brilliant throughout, especially in the closing stages when we were pushing for the winner.”
Andy Vale pocketed a hat-trick for a Brickfield outfit which has won all eight matches since the start of the season, including five in the league which puts them top of Ardal North East.
Callum Roberts was also on target for Gareth Wilson’s sde, Niall Freeman and Josh Newell responding for the Colliers.
Osian Morris plundered a dramatic 91st minute winner to edge a seven-goal thriller in Dolgellau’s favour.
Gerwyn Williams, Dennis Bates and sub Gethin Evans also registered for the home side, Meilir Williams (2) and Joe Vaughan replying.
Tremendous result for a Penycae side which brought an end to Llangollen’s seven-match winning run since the start of the campaign.
Will Nevitt and Will Scott were the home marksmen, Meuryn Hughes hitting back for the visitors.
Richard Lawrence and Sam Richardson delivered the goals which won the day for Penyffordd, the Park finishing up with 10 men after the 65th minute dismissal of Sean Skimmings.
Levon Hughes (2), Dylan Roberts, Ryan Davies, Joe Jones and sub Nathan Williams shared the goals as second-place Rhydymwyn made it five straight wins and hit the opposition for six.
Stephen Birch notched a consolation for Druids.
Two great names in Anglesey football shared an eight-goal contest which saw Cemaes eventually finish well on top.
Boded keeper Bryn Jones was dismissed before Bay captain Keenan Downey stepped up to convert a penalty make it 1-0 after 32 minutes.
Luke McGivern then doubled the lead just before the break.
A frantic second half saw goals aplenty as McGivern turned provider for Downey for 3-0 and Iolo Hughes made it four after 64.
Boded’s young star Callum Queen offered them some hope with a quick double on 65 and 68 to pull it back to 4-2.
Hughes then scored again on 74 before Queen missed a chance for a hat-trick from the penalty spot.
The game was done and dusted when Downey stepped up to score his second penalty of the match and complete his hat-trick.
