Great news for Caernarfon Town – the man who led them into Europe for the first time ever has signed an extended deal at the club.
Richard Davies has penned a long term-contract to continue as first team manager at the Cymru Premier outfit.
Davies was given the job on an interim basis towards the end of the 2022/23 season and helped the Canaries fight off relegation after what had been a turbulent campaign.
He was then given the job on a permanent basis and in his first season as manager guided the club to European competition for the first time in its history.
Town finished fifth in the Cymru Premier at the end of 2023-24 and qualified for the Uefa Conference League via the play-offs, beating Cardiff Met University 2-0 in the semis before overcoming Penybont 3-1 in the final.
They then went on to win their first-ever European tie, beating Northern Ireland’s Crusaders on penalties after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline. The Cofis went out to Polish giants Legia Warsaw in the next stage.
Club chairman, Paul Evans, said: “It’s clear to see that Richard and his management staff have done an excellent job in their first full season and we are pleased to reward him with a long-term contract. He knows how we run the club and what we expect from the management team and it’s fair to say that he is the perfect fit as our manager.
“The club is now entering a long-term project that we hope will see us grow on and off the field and Richard is a huge part of this. We’re excited to be working with him on this exciting adventure.
Our future starts now and we’re all looking forward to see what we can achieve together.”
