Caernarfon Town manager Richard Davies has signed a contract extension until 2029 following a period of unprecedented success on and off the pitch.

Davies became the first Caernarfon boss to lift the Welsh Cup last season and is the only manager to lead the club in European competition, which he has achieved twice.

Nicknamed Fish, Davies was given the job on an interim basis towards the end of the 2022/23 season and helped the Canaries fight off relegation after what had been a turbulent campaign.

His appointment became permanent and in his first season as manager he guided the club to European competition for the first time in its history.

Under Davies’ leadership, Caernarfon have finished fifth and a joint all-time best fourth twice in the past three Cymru Premier seasons.

The manager said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign this new deal with Caernarfon Town. It’s a tremendous honour, and I feel genuinely proud and privileged to continue leading a club that means so much to me.

“Our journey so far has been built on hard work, togetherness and a relentless drive to improve the standards on and off the pitch. The success we’ve enjoyed is a testament to everyone involved, from the players, staff , board members as well as our incredible supporters who get behind us every single week.

“My passion for this club runs deep, and this new chapter is about pushing standards even higher, building on what we’ve achieved, and driving Caernarfon Town forward with ambition, belief, and a shared commitment to keep making history together.”

Club chairman Paul Evans added: “We are really pleased to have agreed on a new long term contract with Richard. He is the most successful manager in our history, leading us into Europe twice and winning the Welsh Cup for the first time ever and we believe he is the best manager in the Welsh game. Everyone at the club is excited at the prospect of seeing what we can achieve together in the future.”

Caernarfon Town celebrated the announcement of Davies’ new deal in style with a 3-0 win over Colwyn Bay today.
