KAI DAVIES (Mochdre Sports to NFA)

This great servant of Mochdre football has decided to give Tier 3 a try with Rhyl-based Ardal North West newcomers NFA this season.

Kai, 30, has been a senior player at Mochdre for 14 years, making in the region of 400 appearances for the club.

He won the 2012-13 President’s Cup and Clwyd Cup with Sports. and the Premier Cup in 2013-14.

As for individual awards, there are too many to mention!

Kai was also a standout player in the Rhyl and District Sunday League before it folded.

He has also represented the North Wales Coast in the Uefa Regions Cup.

A true leader, he will bring much experience to an NFA side testing themselves at Tier 3 level for the first time.

SHANE MIDDLEMAN (Bow to Kinmel Bay)

Experienced defender who was a loyal player and captain at Prestatyn Sports from day one until their first team temporarily folded at the end of 2022-23.

Spent the first half of last season with Bow FC, helping them on their way to the North Wales Coast East Division One title.

Always a big smile and a kind word, but once he walks onto the pitch he is all business – a strong defender with plenty of skill to offer too.

Also a former Bangor University and Prestatyn Rovers player, check out Shane’s honours:
Prestatyn Sports: quadruple (2014/2015) – Clwyd Premier League title, North Wales Intermediate Cup, Normac Premier Cup, Salisbury and Co President’s Cup. Welsh Alliance Lock Stock Challenge Cup winners (2016/2017). Welsh Alliance Division Two champions (2017/2018).
Prestatyn Rovers: 2012 North Wales Intermediate Cup winners.

JOSH COOKE (Brickfield Rangers to CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Good capture for the Lilywhites from fellow Tier 3 club Brickfield.

Cooke’s past clubs also include Hawarden Rangers, Prestatyn Town and Saltney Town, where he played a big part in the Bordermen’s celebrated run to the last 16 of the 2021-22 Welsh Cup, when they were the final T3 side left in the competition.

The 31-year-old joined Brickfield in January 2024, having spent the first half of the season with Saltney.

On his move to Rhyl, Josh said: “I’m made up to be part of this huge club. After speaking with the Gaffa and hearing his plans and seeing what players he’s adding to an already brilliant squad, I think the fans will have a lot to cheer about this season.”

Manager Gareth Thomas added: “He’s an excellent keeper with plenty of experience and will be a great addition to the squad being assembled at Belle Vue.”

KIERAN BALL (Waggon and Horses to Flint Mountain)

A midfielder with an eye for goal, 24-year-old Ball captained Waggon and Horses in the Chester & Wirral Football League last season and now moves across the border to be part of Mountain’s debut Cymru North campaign.

Mountain manager Aden Shannon commented: “Kieran has come in and done really well in pre-season. He’s played a lot of local football which is a very good standard but he feels it is time he pushes himself further. He certainly has the potential to do well in this league.

He is a very good footballer and has a good attitude, is very quick and dynamic, and will add goals to the team.”

JAY SUTTON (Penrhyn Bay to Llandudno Amateurs)

Having scored 19 goals in 15 matches for Penrhyn Bay last season, Sutton looks like a great signing for the Amateurs.

The 25-year-old also provided six assists last term for a team which ended up fifth in Division One.

Amateurs management comments: “When we heard Jay was interested and we received the phone call it was a no brainer for us to try and make him an Amateurs player. We look forward to Jay getting going in an Amateurs shirt for the season ahead. Jays determination and vision moving forward was an instant hit and we can’t wait for him to start scoring goals in an Amateurs shirt.”

Jay added: “Really looking forward to being part of the Amateurs, from the intensity at training to the managers and players, quality all round. Really excited to get as fit as possible and put in some great performances on the pitch, giving 100% and getting on the scoresheet in new season ahead.”

DAN WRIGHT (Wrexham to CPD Y Rhyl 1879)

Like father, like son.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Wright ended his playing days at Rhyl, but his lad Dan has arrived at Belle Vue at a very different stage of his career, aged just 18.

Dan is a versatile player who can operate as a right back or centre back.

Previously with Wrexham, Dan is joining Rhyl with a clear mission: to help the club secure promotion this season.

He said: “I want to join Rhyl to play men’s football and to win the league as I know how much it means to them to go up.”

IFAN MANSOOR (CPD Llanberis to Llangefni Town)

After a number of seasons at Llanberis, this exciting winger/forward has decided to try out his skills in Tier 3 with Llangefni.

Since 2019-20, 23-year-old Ifan has made 118 appearances for the Darans and netted 53 goals, including 19 in 28 games last season.

Last term he bagged both goals for Llanberis in a 2-1 Cwpan Snowdonia semi-final victory over favourites Trearddur Bay and went on to score in the final, which saw the Ffordd Padarn outfit overcome Glantraeth 3-1 to lift their first winners’ trophy in over 20 years.

MOHAMUD ALI (to Llandudno)

Llandudno’s new 29 year old centre-back Mohamud Ali has international experience,

The Somalian has had previous spells at Nantwich Town, Southport, Curzon Ashton and others.

In 2019, Mo was part of the Somalia team who beat Zimbabwe to record the nation’s first World Cup qualification match victory in 35 years.

Llandudno manager Jordan Hadaway said: “To bring someone of Mo’s quality to the football club was something that excited myself and the group. He will be one of the best in the league and I can’t wait to get working with him.”

Ali commented: “I’m delighted to have signed for Llandudno. I’m feeling excited for the season ahead and I can’t wait to get going with this great group of lads.”

The defender is one of a number of exciting new summer signings at Maesdu Park which also includes ex-Flint Town United goal-getter Mark Cadwallader, former Holywell Town front man Mark Winslade, wing-back Dan Jones, striker Adam Stephens, goalkeeper Cameron Darling and highly-experienced defender Anthony Stephens, whose previous teams include Bala Town, Wrexham, Prestatyn Town and Flint.

HUW SHAW (Bangor 1876 to Llangefni Town)

Goalkeeper Shaw joined Bangor 1876 in August 2022 and went on to make 29 appearances for the club, including 11 in the Cymru North last season.

Before that, the 26-year-old had spells with Conwy Borough and Llanfairpwll, where he once scored an equaliser in a league game from the penalty spot and was the hero of many a shoot-out.

Now Shaw makes a move to Tier 3 Ardal North West Llangefni, where his experience will no doubt benefit the Anglesey club.

MATTY SCOULLAR (Runcorn Town to Flint Mountain)

Scoullar joins the Cymru North newcomers following a short stint at Runcorn.

A young defender, Scoullar featured for Prestatyn Town last season until a move to Runcorn in January.

The 22-year-old made 22 appearances for the Seasiders in 2023-24.

Mountain manager Aden Shannon had this to say: “Matty is another great signing. He’s a very good footballer, but more importantly, he can defend.

We nearly got him last season in January but we just couldn’t get it over the line, so I am really pleased he has agreed to come in now.”
