Flintshire girl Mayzee Davies wins second Cymru cap in victory over Croatia

Flint’s Mayzee Davies won her second cap for the Cymru women’s senior side in tonight’s 3-0 win over Croatia at the Stadion Branko Čavlović-Čavlek.
Defender Davies, 17, came on as a 79th minute substitute for Rhiannon Roberts in the UEFA Women’s Championship Qualification – League B – Group 4 tie.
The Manchester United youngster made her full Cymru debut in a 6-0 victory in Kosovo in April.
In that game, she took the field in the 77th minute, replacing Josie Green. Fellow North Walian Elise Hughes from Hawarden netted twice for Wales that evening.
Goals from Jess Fishlock, Sophie Ingle and Kayleigh Barton secured tonight’s triumph which saw Wales put their European Championship qualification hopes back in their own hands.
Fishlock’s emphatic finish – in off the underside of the crossbar – on 14 minutes saw her score her 44th Wales goal, equalling the all-time record of Helen Ward.

Barring an upset of epic proportions, Wales should now complete the task of topping group B4 and earning the status of being a seeded side in the play-offs for a Euro 2025 berth, needing just a point from their final group game. at home to Kosovo on Tuesday, July 16.
Mayzee started playing in Flint at 7, then moved on to Llandudno for a season before signing for Everton aged 9.
She had a season with the Toffees before being offered a switch to Manchester City a year later.
After five seasons there, she joined Manchester United.
Mayzee represented Wales at under-15, U17 and U19 level, before stepping up to the full squad.
